Exciting Nature Thing II - They're Back!
Trin Tragula Started conversation Sep 9, 2005
They've stayed away all Summer ... but tonight, they came back!
All right, one of them came back. Actually, it might be a completely different badger. But I'm soooo excited!
All was quiet and I was sitting here typing when a shuffling sniffling noise wafted through the window. Just a quick one, then it all went quiet again. I didn't even think it was badgers, but I snuck downstairs to retrieve the torch anyway, brought it back up, shone it outside and ... nothing.
No noise, no badgers, no animals of any sort. Having shone it right round the garden, I was just about to turn the torch off when:
*Sniff*
They're not subtle, badgers This one was *huge*. A really enormous badger, certainly the biggest I've ever seen, digging up worms and grubs (I assume) with a vast badger bum sticking up into the air, oblivious to everything.
Or so I thought: it could be a different all-new badger, in fact, because this one didn't like the torch much (last year's badgers hardly noticed it). He lolloped off, then paused and turned round for one of those three-quarter 'check me now, Attenborough' type shots. Then he left.
Left for now that is I'm so glad there are badgers still out there!
Put a real lift in the end of the day, that has

Do the s not chase squirrels? That's probably more of a dog thing, now I come to think of it.
Oddly, I haven't seen many squirrels round here recently, certainly not as many as there used to be. I thought all the wildlife had hopped it

He's back again! He's out there right now: two visits in one night. Seems to be a bit happier with the torch this time.
(I'm not - I think I've got a small moth in my ear )

He may have gone after the badger, which has now shuffled off southward. I think he'll be back though - he has to cross my garden to get home.
Unless he knows another, secret way

yaay
What's with your badger mojo, eh?
I've got bumblebee mojo Saw 2 bumblebees today, the first was asleep on the wall, but later I saw one flying (although it could have been the sleepy one). I think this means something - first bumblebee of spring - just not sure what.

I've just had the image of Poltergeist 2 flash through my mind:
Little girl saying "They're back...." then a big badger looms out og the toy cupboard
I've never seen a badger in RL
Trin, you've not got a camera so that you can take a picture for us, have you?
There was a butterfly at work last week, in the building I was just jabbering on about something, saw it out of the corner of my eye and said "Oooh! Oooh! Butterfly!"
I reckon a few people think I have A.D.D.
Shiny watch!

*shudder*
A camera! I'll give it a go - the flash really might scare them off though. Mind, that one last seemed to be enjoying the attention.
Well, I'll give it a go if they come back
Why do people think you have ADD Footie?
Footie?
Footie!
Foooootie!!!

I think I ate that in a kebab last night
Lookie, lookie! Light goes on, light goes off, light goes on, light goes off, light goes...snap, crackle and pop.
Mmm. Cereal.

Right - so I take his picture with a really powerful flash, dazzling him for just long enough to paint some sort of party slogan down one side, then take a picture of that and pop it on 'the hustings' (wherever that is).
Like I say - I'll give it a go!

Don't worry about painting a slogan on the side of the badger, we can do that in Photoshop later!
Erm...do you have Photoshop? And do you know how to use it?
