New Media Christmas party...

Bleah! I feel awful. We had the new media Christmas party last night. It was good, its amazing how many people actually work here, there were loads of people there, many of whom I've never seen in my life before.
I want to go home to bed right now though. I feel really terrible, everyone else is looking a bit green as well though, which makes me feel slightly better.

Hah! Serves you right for enjoying yourself!
Bah! Humbug!
(Our office party is Tomorrow night - so at least I don't have to get out of bed on Saturday morning )

You mean you're meant to eat at them as well? I was a bit preoccupied with these nice lime cocktails. Yum!

Hi whisky,
Arghh.... whisky!!!! don't mention alcohol!
Ah well at least you'll feel as bad as me on Saturday.
I might have been a little late for work today, just five hours or so, nothing too serious...

I'm not really here Posted Dec 18, 2003
Glad to hear that you have finally surfaced!
I ended up on a night to sunny Essex as I couldn't find a *proper* cab. A very dull hour passed before I managed to get a *proper* taxi home at the end of the route. The driver was every kind and looked after me all the way. I thought he was going to offer to drive me home in the !
I'm going back into retreat now.

, Peta. You've just made me feel a lot better about having given up boozing! Staying sober can be difficult at this time of year, but it certainly has its compensations...
Hope you feel better soon!

Hi Researcher!!
I did get home, not too late as well. Thanks for the texts, I left my phone at home yesterday and didn't get them until I got home last night.
Sorry you had such a bad journey home but glad you got home safely too!

Hi, Peta. I hope you're feeling better. On the other hand, I hope that the party season was t'riffic enough that potentially you still might not be. You know what I mean... I hope.
Anyway, I just thought I'd pop by and say 'hi there'.
There seems to have been so many changes around here that I hardly know where to begin. Although that's a feeling I quite often get; it's a sign of old age. Passing successfully through the Hub seems to have brought me a little more up to date, at least to the extent that I can now say 'hi there' to you.
cheers,
JTG

Hi John,
Good to see you here! As you say lots of things have changed around here, the old h2g2 team have now moved on to other things, only Jim and I are left and we're only tenuously connected to h2g2 these days. Still, it's a good thing, people get bored doing the same thing day in day out, even when its on something fun like h2g2.
Mark has a new job working at the Victoria and Albert Museum now (they have the slowest servers in London I think) but the museum itself is a wonderful place http://www.vam.ac.uk/ it looks like something the Munsters would live in and its full of really trippy stuff.
We're off to Canada ski-ing in a couple of weeks, flying into Calgary. Am I right in thinking you live over that side of Canada?

My old boss used to like to rattle the cage and move us about. Personally, I prefer to stay where I am. Mind you, it's different doing what I do. I think the main thing gardeners plant is themselves.
What's Mark doing at the V and A? Whatever it is, I can imagine Mark bringing new life to the place. He's probably seen most of their collection actually in use in obscure corners of the world! Give him my best wishes, would you.
I'm more over to the right hand side of the map, squashed in between the Great Lakes in Southern Ontario. We have skiing here, but our 'mountains' would get laughed at by Albertans... if you could get one to admit they were looking at a mountain. Serious skiers around here usually head up the highway to Quebec for a weekend's skiing.
