The Daughter

Well... I would say that my Mum’s house concert was a success. Quite a few people turned out and they all seemed to enjoy the music. I was plagued by people asking my parents: “Is this the daughter?” So I became known as “The Daughter.” I found it rather odd to have people come up to me and say that my Mum had told them so much about me. Felt rather like being at a disadvantage.... I had no idea who most of the people weresmiley - erm

I was surprised later in the evening. My feet were hurting because I’d been standing most of the night and as I didn’t like the type of music they were playing I decided to go and lay down in my room. When I came downstairs at the intermission one lady asked me if I liked the music. I explained to her about my sore feet and my preference for other music and so she asked me what I liked. I told her Goth rock, which is true, and was quite surprised at her action... although I suppose I shouldn’t be. She recoiled slightly and was quite for a few moments and then went and stood on the other side of the room!smiley - yikes I rather expect that reaction toward Goths I suppose but I usually just think that people just need to get to know me to know that I’m not going to bite their neck or something. I don’t know what they expect. So I was rather shocked to find that someone who had been friendly towards me before could change so quickly with the use of one word. A fascinating experience. I would have thought it was obvious from the way I was dressed (all in black with dark eyeliner and eye shadow). *shrug* I don't know... I think I'm a nice person....smiley - erm

I’ve retired to bed earlysmiley - smiley The concert is still going on but I wasn’t feeling very wellsmiley - ill A combination of too much cakesmiley - cake and too much perfume I think. I can’t believe the way people just lather it on!!! It drives me crazysmiley - headhurts And for some reason it’s always the really smelly ones. Or perhaps they would seem fine if they were in smaller quantities. I was hugged by the few people that I knew and unfortunately they were wearing strong perfume so I spent the rest of the night smelling like itsmiley - sadface

Now it’s time to change into some fresh smelling pyjamas, brush my teeth and read good booksmiley - smiley. I’ve been feeling sleepy all day ever since I laid down on my bed and my kitty cat curled up beside me. It’ll be good to finally get to bedsmiley - zzz.

Goodnight everyonesmiley - smiley

Damn it, and I was getting all excited. People often look at me funny as to quote Xandria, I dress myself in black, in black from head to heel. The point at which people tend to start backing away is after I mention that I'm naturally nocturnal and that I hate bright sunlight, as it makes me ill. Oh and my musical tastes can accelerate their movement.

What sort of music do you think she liked?

Thank you. All of yousmiley - smiley
Sorry its taken so long for me to come back but its been crazy at work with my boss away and I've been exhausted.

X, I now wear eyeliner and eye-shadow practically all the time. Its just lighter or darker depending on where I'm going. I started wearing it for work and now I feel as if I don't look any good without it on. It's like some kind of terrible viscous addiction.

Vestie, I would assume she likes soul/gospel music as she was there at the house concert to listen to it.

Well if she likes gospel then she probably thinks you're some kind of satan worshiping heathen.

I once walked around St. Paul's Cathedral, Westminster, in an Iron Maiden t-shirt and got some really nasty looks from people.

I have also wandered around Litchfield Cathedral with a t-shirt with a Wytch Elf, much like this one http://mythicmktg.fileburst.com/war/us/media/newsletter/2007_12/soccnl_07.jpg , on it along with some quote about ripping out someone's heart and drinking the still warm blood it contained.

That, it seemed, wasn't an overly popular move on my part. However I figured if you were going to live in a place called 'field of the dead' then you can't complain overly much.

Certainly not. With a grim name like that I think shirts like that should be more or less expected.

Funny how people can react so strongly to an article of clothing.

You're right - but sometimes you can understand it. When one of the Prince Harry went to a fancy dress party as a Nazi in full uniform it was not well received by the UK population as a whole. smiley - yikes

WTF? Ok, that was weird. Anyway, on with what I was going to say.

I have also been known to frequent bars/pubs popular with goths whilst wearing my "If you're a Goth, where were you when we sacked Rome?" t-shirt.

Ironically enough, I do happen to want one of these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BROCADE-FROCK-COAT-MIDDLE-AGES-GOTHIC-LARP_W0QQitemZ180043899862QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item180043899862&_trkparms=72%3A984%7C39%3A1%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

Oooooh.... Nice. I love that.

I find I have an increasing aversion to sunlight. I don't want a tan and I don't want to get burnt but ever since I had sunstroke I've been avoiding it like the plague. Now I just admire how things look in it while staying in the shade.

It's also known as Hyperthermia or heat stroke. If you've still not heard of it then have a looky at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyperthermia

Its nasty. You spend too much time out in the sun.. and in my case don't wear a hat or have enough to drink. It made me feel all achy, tired... and oddly enough rather cold. I also felt very queasy.

My goodness its been a long time since I've been here. I thought it was shorter than this!
