h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

In A recent posting i recived by Pimms, He suggested i give 'information' to the older generation about the 'goths' and 'townies' and quite frankly i thought it was a pretty good idea, So:

Todays genertaion of children (i have to admit) are most likely alot more voilent and competitive then the older generation used to be,
and different sterotypes have emerged, The streptypes are Goth, Townie and 'Protectee'
Now in general most people in the ages of 12 to 18 fit in to one of the above streptype, However the 'Protectee' is not a streotype that many people know as there is no 'offical' name for it so i only feel i must explain these different streotypes, And for the record i dont mean to offend any people by the streotyping.
anyway, here are my interpretations of the 'groups'

The Protectee

This is just a name that me and my fellow friends call this 'class' of person because we all think that they deserve a name.
The protectee is a person that is around the age of 9 to 14, there are a range of reasons for them being streotyped as a protectee.
There are two types of protectee both of which are teh same name - pretectee. The first type is the person who is not mentally matrue enough to make their own descions or are givin responsablity of their own actions. The second streotype is the more 'advanced' version of the first type of protectee, the difference being that the second type of protectees are givin partial abilty to decide for themselves and the streotype is them walking around a Mall/Shopping centre with 'Daddys Debit Card' and "Needing" the new FCUK top, also the type tend to be Female but its jsut a streotype. you could recognise
them by infact them wearing that top your little sister just bought or the reason why you have no money in your wallet and your daughters looking 'kool'



The Goth

The Goth is the universally known term altougth i imagine the class would be known as 'alternative' so ill call the class that because Goth is its own branch of alternative
In the term alternative there are 3 branches there is 'mosher' 'Goth' and the alternative protectee which has just confuzzed you all.
The goth is a very 'hardcore' alternative you could recognise the Goth wearing a dog coller and white makup.
The mosher is the lighter ideal of the Goth, these are known by differnt names depending on which are you are in, you could recognise
a mosher by the baggy pants, the earings and the bands around his/her arm, no colour can really be defined as bright colours are used alot in the mosher culture.
The Protectee alternative is the very young mosher around the age of 10 to 12 year of age these are just coming of listening to Pop music to Pop/Rock Such as 'Avril Lavgine' and 'Busted' and tend to wear clothes with pictures of there Idols on their shirts.
You can find any of the above sat down in the large grassy areas away from any kind of shops or Townies....


The Townie

The Townie is the opposite of the The alternative's, infact they are rivals, which is the reason why im writing this to explain the differnces...
Townies are known by many names which like the alternative range vary, around our area they are known by 'Scallies' and london the are known as Townies. There are no branches to the Townies only there are female and male version of them, whereas in the alternative culture males and females wear the same things but in the townie culture they do not. Townies are streptyped to listen to RnB and Rap music but it is not just a streotype because in face they do.
Male Townies in general care about their 'reputation' around there area and how 'hard' they are which basiclly means them being the Alpha Male in the area, they usally wear 'hoodies' (a pullover with
an attached hood with various makes such as Nike and Puma)
The Female townie doe not often wear pants, they noramlly wear
mini-skirts and low cut tops,
You can find scallys by looking out of your window at 2:30 in the morning yelling on your nearest corner...yes that is them...


And that was a SIMPLE explantion of the Townie Vs Goth and looking back i do have to say sorry because i have mentioned my own opinion or at least dropped hints and i shouldnt have when doing a peice that informative such as this.

It was a pretty good idea of Pimms [thanks Pimms] and I take no offence at the older generation. Please help your friends to take no offence at the older generation, also. Between you and me and the World, they know nothing of Goth, Townie and Protectee. NOW they do!

That is the way it works for me too. I write, to myself, and hey presto, what I have written is there. It is as if I am planning my own future and that is some heavy shit, as I am sure you can imagine. Then the Game becomes Life and Death and there are too many losers.

Do you have a sense of Collective Responsibility or are you happy to live in a world of your own, where you can do whatever you want and to hell with the consequences? This approach normally leaves a trail of victims.

Sorry didn write back, i was talkin to myself.

Well in a sense you loose or you your friends loose and that ranges from person to person,

If you live a collective responsabilty then you are always thinking about what you are doing and you need to restrict yourself and even the most disaplined people need to let go and be reckless somtimes so by being very disiplined and thinking about others can harm your own mental self

But, living wrecklessly lets hurts you in a sense and others, if you do things that you want to do (think of your own expample) you would hurt others by not caring about them but also if you do anyting for a long enough time you willl injure yourself in some way so in this case you would think yourslef above the law and if you want it you WILL get it and you wont stop so you screw your own mind then.

I think the best way would be to get a good balance of doing them both, an i think that i would most likly be the top one, but as any person i do get infulenced by the crowd im with, so it does vary so icant give a definate answer ehehehehehehe... how bout u?

I want to live my Life as I see it. What I see is Good. I see no pain only exquisite Pleasure. This manifests itself in the "real" world as an acceptance of all possible sexual pleasures. The operative word here is Pleasure....something which is enjoyed and enjoyable. It is very subjective, which means that it is different for everybody. We are all unique and therefore our sexual needs are all peculiar and particular to us. This infinite variety we have chosen to define with classifications...heterosexual, homosexual, bisexual, transgender, transsexual etc. etc. To seek to identify classifications will only lead to exclusivity..... the denial of an individuals right to lead their own Life for the benefit of the Common Good.

....for the benefit of the Common good, IS the caveat which ALLOWS you to do WHATEVER you want. Try it, and see!

We do not NEED a good balance, Noth, we must never accept a compromise. If it is not Good then what we have is not good enough and in too many cases what we have is Bad.

Accept NOTHING less than Good and you will find that it is more than enough.

So if we acept nothing less than good, how do 'we' create a win - win situation in a case where one person is going to miss out if we have good...if you follow

"We" do not create anything....for somebody else! It is surely something created by themselves. If we dwell upon what we are doing then we can find all sorts of reasons for NOT doing it. But if the thought can bring pleasure to YOU and you can see it bringing pleasure to others and there is no negative impact, then are you going to deny yourself doing it. It may still be a win-lose situation because one person has still not "seen" what you have seen in the situation. Just, WHO has not seen, is worth thinking about.

The simple boy meets girl, boy falls for girl but she not for him is a reasonable analogy.Just because she doesn't see it, doesn't mean that she cannot. If you really like her, she may very well be missing out, in her blissful "ignorance" and you will have to try again to find out what will turn her on. Once turned on, it is more akin to maintaining the win-win situation.

But you specifically asked how do "we" create a win-win situation...and in this particular boy -girl scenario, ask her what she wants.

We are able to do whatever we like and it really boils down to " Do we want to do it?" and that depends on knowing what you should be doing. And the only way that you are going to get someone to do what you want, is to do what they want. Now isn't that strange.

Now that is a very good premise for the elimination of the concept of choice PROVIDED that what you are offering as GOOD, cannot be bettered. If what you are offering is so good that it cannot be bettered and it is NOT being accepted, then you have to accept that the message is not getting through. It is not a case of it being wrong and has been rejected, only that your message is ambiguous.
Very much like what happens when news is passed down along a line. It will eventually become corrupted, changed.

I try to be very careful in what I am saying and try to be extremely careful in how I say it. Because with a very simple punctuation error, I can change the whole meaning of the written words. The words remain the same but the original meaning has been lost. If the meaning is lost altogether, then we will realise that there is an error somewhere along the line and we can discover and fix it. But if it still makes sense, we may assume that nothing has happened and then we are working on a false premise. The older the message and the further it travels and is handled, the greater is the probability that the message is corrupted. Only one thing to do then....Ask for the original. And if you cannot find the original and the author is gone, you will have to work with another message...if you choose to.

Now if this new message is so good that it cannot be bettered, what is the point in trying to work with an old one which has been corrupted. A new message is the easy part. People believing it to be similar/as good as/better than the original is their difficulty and that would appear to be the nature of Faith. And it can stare some people in the face, and they can see it, and they still refuse to believe. Is that a loss of Faith. They would appear to have rejected both messages, the original corrupted one and the virgin new one, although it says all that they want to hear. That is indeed a dilemma.

And who/what/where is this little Gem? Are we to assume that all old messages, which have been modified to a greater or lesser degree through this degradation, disguise the true meaning of the message, at least, or change the whole meaning, at worst.

To have the message changed and not to realise it, IS a worst case scenario, because you do not know it has happened. And you will passionately defend the corrupted message, because you do not know what has happened. Another good reason for a new message?

I suppose the conclusion we can draw from this is, that if you do not have access to the original, you are going to need another original to work with. And who/what/where is this little Gem?

Noth, I hope that sometimes you end up falling in with yourself. It feels good so it cannot be Bad.

but we do create things for other people, on many levels. the level which im wittering on about is the way everyone shapes other people and everyone gets shaped by others. so arent we all making things all the time..like a new person?

Precisely....and if what you are creating is not good/acceptable, it is disregarded. It moves nobody or nothing further on. However, if it is good, it will be accepted and added to our knowledge, upgrading us. It elevates the human condition.
If it can be accepted that we are born omniscient and from that point on, it is all downhill, at varying speeds depending on our "treatment". And that this continues, until we stop just accepting what we see and hear and smell and touch and start asking ourselves why this, why that, and then we can start to reprogramme ourselves with what we now discover ref; our free thinking and we seek to reprogramme ourself to eliminate the negative input which led to our gedradation from birth.
Not only must we add all the new data which is coming to us by reason of our new thinking but we must also remove all of the negatives which will cause us to keep corrupting the whole. And this we do with an almighty punch-up which we can call "confrontation". Rotten apples in the barrel will need to be thrown out otherwise the other apples will surely spoil, eventually.
