I just heard that my dear friend who tried to end his life a few months ago (the person for whom many of you collected jokes last year) tried and failed once more to commit suicide smiley - sadfacesmiley - cry

At least his wife is now supportive of his wishes, thank goodness. I hope they'll find a way together for him to fulfil his wish.

Very dear fb,

How incredibly sad. My feelings go out to both he and his wife and to his loyal friends like yourself. Life can be so hard and difficult to understand the "justice" of it. A besutiful red fragrant smiley - rose to remind you of happy days spent with them.

Thank you both smiley - hug

My heart is filled with sadness for my friends. G lived life to the full until they discovered the brain tumour. In hindsight we all feel it would have been better had he not survived the operation smiley - blue

Life is not fair sometimes. I'm sure we've all had that feeling from time to time...

Such a sad situation. smiley - sadface I hope it ends for him soon. It's good that his wife is beginning to change her attitude about it. When we have terminally ill loved ones, we often think of what is best for ourselves, rather than what is best for them. I've always suspected that humans have an instinct that tells us when it's time to die and that we need to listen to it and respect it. Because we have the technology to keep people alive when they are so ill doesn't mean that we should feel obliged to do so.

Frenchbean, there are at least three cases being reported on over here at the moment, and one 'ending' is going out on TV at the request of those involved. I am not sure about that, or whether I will watch, but I shall read the article.

It is so dreadful. Several failed attempts is surely a good enough indication to all that he has had enough.

smiley - hug So sorry you seem to be getting sad news at the moment.

Take care. smiley - cuddle

Strange, isn't it, that sad news comes in clumps?

My uncle's funeral is today smiley - cry

I've been reading about a couple of the cases to which you refer, Websailor. I watched a programme in Australia a few years ago which showed the last hour or so of an assisted suicidee. It was deeply moving and not at all upsetting. I agree with you Hyp, that there is a time to die and some of us are fortunate enough not only to know when that is, but to be able to have a little control and therefore dignity over our death. May I be one of the lucky ones.

And me.

(Nothing else to say, really - except that it's some consolation that this chap's wife can now see and appreciate his point of view.)
