Climbing a mountain, pushing a rock

The magnitude of my imminent move is beginning to hit me. The euphoria has died down and the complex and numerous technicalities are uppermost in my mind.

So having had a couple of weeks of good sleeps, I'm back to lying awake at 2 o'clock in the morning with my brain whirring smiley - crosssmiley - yawn

There is a huge amount of stuff that I still can't start, because HR at Christchurch Council are contradicting themselves about my relocation expenses and conditions of employment smiley - steam Until that's nailed down I can't sign the contract - and won't hand in my notice on the house, or put the black beast up for sale.

Once the HR people have sorted out their story and things start moving it's going to be mad rush to get everything done in time for a start date of 22nd September smiley - yikes

So if I'm not around much, you'll know that things are frantic. Alternatively I may be here every day, letting off steam smiley - steam as I climb this mountain...

Good luck... smiley - cheerup At least you know how to go about a move of this magnitude - you've done it before - it's all achievable, even if it gets a bit surreal and Kafkaesque in parts.

Kafkaesque as in metamorphosing, rather than trying to get into a castle I hope? smiley - weirdsmiley - laugh

Last time I had a major move it seemed like a bit of both, but eventually it settled down and became a metamorphosis. smiley - zen

Fb, I loathe moving. The mechanics of it all. It is such a chore. But I envy people their opportunities. About the only thing that keeps me going here is the hope that one day I'll be able to pack up and get out while I still have enough life in me to enjoy it.

Frenchbean,

I am sorry to hear the HR people are mucking you about. I hope they are not going back on their word, it doesn't bode well for the future if they do that.

I know it is nearly impossible, but try and relax until you can really get going. I am sure you will achieve it all in record time once the ball gets rolling. I find I am much more organised and efficient when I am fired up and a deadline is looming. This lull must be very frustrating, letting doubts creep in. Swat them asap smiley - biggrin

We shall be here if you need us if you need to let off smiley - steam. Otherwise we will just sit here chewing our nails smiley - yuk and waiting patiently for news .........
