Live music. Yeah baby....

Well last night I went to Bristol to watch a gig in line with my new years resolution to watch more live music.

I went to see a band called "The Bravery" at "The Fleece" in Bristol. I had never previously heard any of their tracks but on the basis of several press reccomendations.

The hastily as we heard a report on the radio that there was gridlock on the motorway around Weston Super-Mare we set off at 4.30 instead of 5 as we had planned. Predictably we arrived in Bristol with plenty of time to spare, and I managed to follow my Brothers instructions and succesfully navigate to town and park up.

Got nto the Fleece at about 8.15 with the Support act "The Five Oclock Heroes" about to start. They were fantastic. I often find that when I attend gigs at smallish venues the support acts are nothing to write home about but this band rocked. The support band justified the entrance fee on their own.

This of course was a promising start, however it left the main act with a hard task to follow. In true Rock and Roll fashion they kept everybody waitined for the best part of an hour and the excitment was rising.

Then they came on; they certainly looked the part, every inch Rock and Roll looking stars. However the first two tracks they played were frankly IMHO a bit dissapointing. I was swtarting to get a bit worried.

I needent have been. The third track kicked in and evidently they just needed to warm up. As it transpired they were excellent. All the tracks from No.3 were brilliant and well performed. They were great showmen and got the crowd really going.

They certainly have that something else and I think they are going to be big big stars.

Cannot wait for their album on 14th of March.

Oh yeah I forgot that on the way up the lights on my car (main beam) went. Leaving us 100 miles away from home, on the motorway in the dark with a choice of Full beam or dipped headphones.

Luckily we managed to use some electrical tape to jury rig up the full beam lights so they didn't blind on coming traffic.

Nice
