h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Well a little belated... it has taken me a couple of days to recover form sundays hangover; so here is my Greenbank update.

Tough game was in the offing against Western Kings for the second time in three weeks; the lads were all very up for it feeling robbed in our 1-1 draw with them.

The night before the match I agreed to lt Recardo off the £10 he owed me* if he scored; the rotter did just that after about 15 mins and we were cooking with gas! Chance after chance came our way and it looked for a bit like we might blow them away. The other teams manager (who was for the record the most biased linesman we have EVER had; not once in 90 mins did he flag our way at all; imagine that a whole game where not once do they kick the ball out or we are on side...) was getting moody and ended up kicking me really hard. My response... a really mature "...just becuase your loosing!"

However those of you who have read my prev blogs here will know that with Greenbank it is never that simple. The ref gave what can only be described as a "Dubious penalty" you know they type where the other team are not even appealing; and when the ref blows everyone stands around cause they are not sure what the ref has given. 1-1.

However since our devastaing loss to Devonport back in november we have been made of pretty stern stuff; and we did not dissapoint. For about 10 mins at the start of the second half Western Kings came back at us strong but with our defence Jason, Ian and Mark standing firm they never really threatened.

Cometh the hour cometh the man and Adam once again delivered the good for us with a great winning goal, set up by one of many awsome long throws from Jason "Wayne" Carr. All in all a great result for us and we are starting to climb the table; since that Devonport defeat we have played eight, won 2, drawn 4 and lost 2; both the defats coming to teams in the top three. Given that the devonport defeat was our 22 in a row we have done well of late.

Big game on sunday though Devonport Dreams; if we win we are pretty much guarenteed to not finish bottom may even get mid table respectability but a loss and we are in a dogfight...

* Rik foolishly bet at the close ofplay on day two that the windies would draw the series 2-2 in the criket. He lost that bet 24 hours later!
