It truly is great fun. I've never been stage shy.

To prevent yourself from being overrun, you need even more self control. People are able to manipulate you through your emotions and anger is so easy to control in others. It's better to be completely nonchalant and antagonistic, I've found.

Why? Sounds like too much work. English is my second language so I understand. Why do they do that? Is it truly THAT important? And does anyone ever use the other form?

I think that's what everyone does! Highschool is great. We have sacrificial burnings of our school work and Monty Python/Laughing Cow Cheese parties.

I would love to smoke a pipe or cigar regularly. They have the most pleasant, soothing scent. Where that came from, I don't know...

Indeed... I'll have to admit that I have... But I've finally lost it... YAYsmiley - smiley

True, but yet again... not... Not if their anger is against you, and they KNOW that they're right... I just need it some times when I'm low on self confidence, it's a wall to hide behind, but I do agree that being nonchalant is better, and it usually annoys the hell out of people...smiley - evilgrin

Well, yes and no. There are some regions over here that have a spoken language that is closer to New-Norwegian, and they use it... Anyway my point is that I can understand perfectly anything that is written/said to me in New-Norwegian... and they're perfectly capable of understaning me, so why make such a big fuss about it... Plus, it is horrid to learn, because it mixes so easily with the standard Norwegian... They're wrecking my language!!!

I suppose the reason we keep doing it is because Norwegians are damned traditionalists, and also damned patriots... I'm not, but that is a different matter... I mean, it's bloody impractical, and a huge waste of time, just to "preserve the cultural heritage". Plus, I don't see how making every youngster in Norway hate one of the two languages is going to help preserve anything... I suppose I'll have some sacrificial burnings do to when I'm through with this...

Sunds fun... Have you heard of the Norwegian "Russefeiring"?

I think there's an article in here on it... I'll have a look.

I see your point, but I hate tobacco... Especially cigarettes... It's bloody unhealthy and unneccesary... I quote:

"We don't smoke the s**t ourselves. We reserve the right to smoke for the young, the poor, the black, and the stupid."
Quoted from a top leader in a large American tobacco company...

Life is so much happier now that everyone's favorite carrot is no longer stage shy! Yippee!

I love pissing people off. Somehow, that goes along happily with my not liking to get mad. True but not. Neenenenee

Attack of the evil book slammers! Off with their Norwegian heads! Preserve the language. Now I'm crusading for something I don't even understand. *smile and nod*

Preserving the cultural heritage. The words that strike fear in the heart of millions. Sacrificial burnings are good for the soul.

I have never heard of "Russefeiring". Nope, I haven't. I shall look at the article.

I intend to smoke a pipe/cigars when I'm a crone and dying of a terminal disease. Nah...I might go for illegal then.

That sounds like a whole bunch of fun. I've done several of those things, maybe I should move. smiley - erm

Musikklinja, here I come!!!

Post 166

Mr. Carrot

Not so... My abality to move on stage is someone else's nightmare, most likely... But who cares as long as it's not MY nightmare smiley - evilgrin...

Well, I suppose so... It can be quite fun... but you should be careful when provoking people...smiley - winkeye

Indeed... Especially when our cultural heritage is nothing but constructed traditions from the eighteenth and nineteenth century...smiley - sadface

I'm looking forward to it, even though, I have also done quite a lot of those stunts (not the ones involving alcohol, though).

I should indeed go for illegal, it's more fun... Like I said, I do enjoy seeing pink singing slugs smiley - winkeye.

Torture only those who torture you. Then again... We're doing the Suessical for our spring musical this year. It should be absolutely grand!

Being rash is part of the fun. At the moment, I have the bridge-burning disorder. Everyone who pisses me off, I sever connections with. I can't help it; I can NOT act like I like someone.

So the traditions were developed with the sole intention of becoming traditions? Sounds like something we'd do! smiley - biggrin

Alcohol is illegal for me, therefore I agree.

Illegal would be fun. I think drinking coffee in public naked is illegal here, though skinny dipping is a protected sport. Thank gawd! smiley - evilgrin

Have you noticed that smiley - evilgrin and any other smiley, say smiley - erm, are different colors?

Mr. Carrot

Wee... sounds fun... We're doing "The thieving magpie", by Rossini... Problem is... They've used that song in connection with some very perverted scense in "A clockwork orange", which means that I get a fit of laughter every time I hear the side-theme...

Neither can I... But on the other hand, it takes a lot to piss me off... I think the first post here mentions the "M-guy", he's the sort of person I'm capable of just ignoring for a year... even though he's in my class...

Yup... that's pretty much it... I hate traditions... or... I hate the ones that don't involve me getting presents...smiley - winkeye

Hmmm... why's it illegal, how old are you then? And... does anyone actually check wether or not you drink? Everyone... or... almost everyone drinks in Norway... I don't though...

It sure is in Norway as well, but for some reason they still do it... I agree that SOME illegal things are fun... but I find the most amusing stunts to be the innocent ones... like throwing yourself into the back of a taxi with a water-pistol, and yelling "FOLLOW THAT CAR!!!", or two guys walking into a drugstore hand in hand and buying a can of Vaseline... disgusting, but innocent...

Yup, I think it's supposed to be an especially evil shade of yellow...

Think of dead puppies...

You ignore him, then you become friends again, or you just ignore him for a year and restart antagonizing him?

We don't exactly have very many tradition traditions. Yard/barn dances, picnics, senior pranks. That's about it.

I'm sixteen, but alcohol isn't legal until we're twenty-one. They're like fiends over here checking. You can get strikes on your driver's license, get suspended, and sent to youth detention centers if you're caught with it, buying it, or selling it. We drink, but mostly on holidays and special ocassions and not anything close to excess.

I think my ultimate was hiding in those circular racks of clothing at department stores and shaking the racks murmuring 'Buy me! Buy me!' Grabbing random people in the hallway at school to dance with is also quite fun. I'll have to suggest those at the next opportunity, though we don't exactly have much of a taxi market around here. Well, OUT here in the Sticks.

Post 170

Mr. Carrot

I'd rather not... That'd make my cry... which wouldn't improve the situation...

I just keep ignoring him... He doesn't exist... The problem about annoying people is that they usually get everyone's attention when they're being annoying... Which means that it takes a special effort to ignore him, but I suppose I'm managing it quite well.... under the circumstances...

Halloween? Christmas? Thanksgiving? What about those?

Oh my... The age over here is 18 for beer and wine, and 21 for liqour. And nobody bothers with persecuting a youngster for possessing alcohol. We get strikes on our driver licences too, but only if we're caught driving whilst underage or drunk...

Hehe... maybe not... but there are many others... most of which are quite innocent. May I suggest the point of "Entertaining a cinema audience for at least three minutes"? Or perhaps having a staged phonecall somewhere in public where you yell out loads of "personal" comments ("I'm not the father! BUT WE USED PROTECTION! Perhaps you should check with the other guys first, eh? TRAMP" this version is for guys, btwsmiley - winkeye)

Or of course, chemistry, and what you can do with it, is always fun...

Post 171

Mr. Carrot

Hey!

You haven't gone on some new ignoring/bridge-burning spree with me, have you?

Or have you gone on holidays?

Musikklinja, here I come!!!

Post 172

Tacysa

No, I haven't been ignoring you. Well, actually I have, but I've been running about like the proverbial chicken with its head cut off all week.

Save the puppies!

Ignoring people is a talent. I have it, I choose not to use it. I prefer being nasty and having the person leave me alone for all eternity. Unless, of course, they have connections I can later use...muahahahah....

Thanksgiving, yes. Those are more of holidays, not traditions.

I used to live in Germany, and when we moved back to the States, we were all like, 'Whoa, you mean we can't drink??'

You could do the same thing for girls. It'd be even more...interesting.

Chicka-chicka-boom-boom, will there be enough room? Blow things up and make mustard gas. smiley - erm

Musikklinja, here I come!!!

Post 173

Mr. Carrot

Ahh... so you HAVE been ignoring me... Only, you have a reason to...smiley - smiley

Hmmm... a good idea, but I still prefer ignoring people, whenever possible...

What about the turkey? Isn't that some big-time tradition?

I understand... That sounds horrid... Not that I drink, but I still thin they are too strict...

Well, there are girl's versions, I just don't remember them...

Well, every decent science lab should have at least three holes in either its walls, or roof...

Post 174

I have found my head and this thread (hey, that rhymed) so I have decided to grace you with my utterly splendid typing.

I love confrontation. Too agressive for my own good I suppose. Maybe I should join the wrestling team. Nah, I don't want ringworm and guys rolling around in spandex isn't my ultimate fantasy.

Okay, okay. Turkey is tradition. Some people eat ham, but I think most everyone has turkey. We had quail one year because I killed a bazillion of them. We get a week off of school, so I never complain. It gives me some time to delay practicing non-procrastination.

The worst thing I've done was to etch the glass in the fume hood. I'm really a quiet, respectable girl. Honest.

Musikklinja, here I come!!!

Post 175

Mr. Carrot

Woooohooo!smiley - biggrin How lucky for me!smiley - smiley

You SURE about that...?smiley - nahnah Naw, I see your point, I really don't like wrestling... Ever considered martial arts? It's quite fun...smiley - winkeye

Hehe... indeed.. that's what I use the vacations for as well... The joys of doing absolutely NOTHING!!!smiley - smiley

How did you etch it? Hmmm... I don't think I've ever done anything bad in the science lab... I just don't have the guts to do anything nasty, even though I have every opportunity to do so, and I could do it with style... That's what chemistry is forsmiley - winkeye... Naw, I'm really to quiet and respectable for that... Or maybe not quiet...smiley - smiley

Musikklinja, here I come!!!

Post 176

Tacysa

Indeed!

Then again...martial arts is too control oriented. No guns either. I love going to firing ranges and blasting the stuffing out of targets. I'm quite good at it too. *preens* smiley - biggrin

I object! I am working quite vigilantly to avoid anything that can be considered work. Surely that counts as work, doncha think?

Mixing random chemicals with little green army men comes up with very dangerous things. My class (grade) of honors students (all six of us) has a slight obsession with tormenting our teachers with littlegreenplasticarmymen. Occassionally (I can not spell that word) we throw in a few tan ones to really drive them crazy.

Respectable are you? smiley - erm You'd never think that I'd be so cold and calculatingly devious from the looks of me. Then again...

Musikklinja, here I come!!!

Post 177

Mr. Carrot

smiley - smiley

Well, you could obviously do both guns and martial arts. And as for control, that's not entirely true, I went to judo, and even though we were working to control everything, you could, at a low level at least win a lot of fights through being aggressive...smiley - winkeye Though I am well aware that martial arts are meant to be defensive...smiley - winkeye

Well, that sounds pretty much like what I've been doing today, and naw, I'm not sure, but it depends on how much of an effort you have to put into it...

Hmmm... I've never tried doing anything with plastic... I prefer explosives... I have an obsession with explosives, or at least I used to have... I haven't touched a firecracker for a long time...

I think you almost did it, just leave out an l...smiley - winkeye

Well, I like to consider myself respectable... In an odd way... At least I make myself heard, and I stand for what I believe to be right... But I'm not respectable in the sense that I'll do whatever is expected of me... I always consider it up against what is right, and what's best for everyone...

I still haven't seen you, so I wouldn't be able to tell smiley - winkeye.

Musikklinja, here I come!!!

I know someone who did competition judo and I wouldn't want to do that AT ALL. A thing where no one wins until someone has broken something or lost teeth has no appeal for me. I think I'll stick with beating up my little brother and wrestling (not in spandex) with my guy friends.

I'm avoiding it like the plague. I see that evil book and run out of my room. I broke down and read fifty pages last night, but I'm not doing a blasted thing today. THEY CAN'T MAKE ME!!! Anyway.

Ooooh, I love explosives. We go into Alabama and get fire crackers and stump-blast. Rolls and rolls of fire crackers. smiley - cracker Fall off the wagon! Give into your destructive urges and light off an entire gross of bottle rockets in a porta-potty!

I give up on the stupid word. I can spell most everything else, except that word. That word, that word, that word.

I suppose I'm respectable according to that definition, just not traditional. Nontraditional equates to unrespectable for the most part down here.

I'm cute as a bug, but I look slightly neurotic at the moment. I took a shower about five hours ago and I just took the towel off my head. It looks like someone attacked me with a curling iron and left me to die. It's...hysterical!

Musikklinja, here I come!!!

Post 179

Mr. Carrot

Hmm? I survived, I only saw one accident durin my years at Judo, it's really a defensive and harmless sport... But whatever...smiley - winkeye

Well, I'm currently avoiding reading for my philosophy test tomorrow, but I know I'll have to do it in the end...smiley - sadface

Hehehe... sounds like some of the things I've done, in my times... We even put one on the end of an arrow, and fired it into a target of straw, oh the joys smiley - smiley

We all have our non-cooperative words... It's like that... stupid words...!

I don't believe in tradition either...smiley - smiley It's one of the things that blinds you from truth, and sense...

Hehehehe... Well, that's also a pretty normal experience. One of the guys in my class did that for a concert we werer playing... lol...smiley - smiley

Well gotta go read some philosophy, oh the horrors...

Musikklinja, here I come!!!

Post 180

Tacysa

Harmless sport? They really need a or .

Do it all the night before it's due. Why have a week of hell when you can cram it all into one night? smiley - tongueout

That sounds like fun. It just rained so I can't cause any major forest fires, but I don't have a bow and arrow. Drat.

Tradition is trouble. Pigeon holes SUCK!!! I won't even step on that soap box.

Oh, sheesh. The worst I've seen is people poofing up their fros.

I might as well go and start my history project up again. Aah! I feel the more-dedicated-student-than-I-am germs rubbing off on me through the internet!
