I stepped on Pud and hurt her tail while hanging out washing.

Thankfully not broken. Vet has given her antibiotics. Cost £30. Cheaper than if it had been broken so can't complain. My fault so can't complain anyway.

Didn't want to leave her and come to work. Didn't want to come to work anyway. Bad brain week.

Never mind, no permanant damage done.

My two are the same, under my feet when i am in the kitchen, and i have stood on spiggys feet when i have shoes on, and he screams - i panic in case i have broken his toes. But so far he has been lucky, but he doesnt learn!

Pud made a terrible noise when I stepped on her. Then she rolled over and gave me submissive please-don't-hurt-me-again looks. Her tail was drooping half way and she cried quite a bit. Poor baby. She still doesn't want it touched, but she's doesn't seem to be in pain and she can hold it up now. I think she'd already hurt it previously, possibly that's why she was so peeved when I stood on it. She has a row of thick scabs along the underside of her tail which were there before I stepped on her. Taking her back to the vet on Monday so I'll ask about it then.

Better brain today. Bit wired, but that's preferable. Had to go shopping on my own yesterday and panicked for two hours solid.

does she go outside? it sounds like sher may have been bitten by another cat first

She does go outside (brought us in a delightful dead mouse this evening!) and there are rather a lot of cats in the neighbourhood.

We don't always notice immediately when she's been fighting or otherwise has been hurt because she has rather dense fur.

I very badly want to get another cat. Do you think she'd fight with it? Lizardy doesn't like the idea of anything making Pud unhappy.

Kitten has lost the feeling in the tip of her tail.

- how much? if it is alot then they will have to amputate as she will get it trapped in things, but if it is just the very end then it will be ok.

sorry i didnt reply to your last post. How old is pud? I don't think it is a good idea to be honest - and i will come back and tell you why after i have waded through my mail

About a year old, though she's a very small cat so she looks younger. It is just the tip, maybe as much as an inch. The vet seemed to think it would be ok, but it is a bit worrying. We're going to check her tail at bedtime every night so hopefully if she damages it any more we'll notice.

an inch should be ok then as the vet says, they often end up getting them shut in doors as they think thir tail is shorter than it is.

I thought she was much older! oh well, she may take to a new cat better then. Reason Spiggy is so loopy is because he is in a multicat household. Although he loves his sister and loved Jaffa when he was alive, he really resents her being around and it subconciously stresses him. He is on meds. it is becoming a well recognised syndrome.

Cats are naturally territorial and not pack animals like dogs, so even though cats may appear to get on, something in the brain doesnt like it and can cause a problem.

I really really want to be a two cat family! I don't think Pud will play well with others though, she's pretty highly strung.

I still think it would have been better to get two kittens at the same time. ( at Fatty.)

even 2 kittens from the same litter can have problems.

At least it means you can spoil Pud more

why is it Fatty's fault?

She didn't want to get a kitten at all, didn't think we were responsible enough. I had to nag mercilessly for a year before we got Pud. I wanted two then but she refused. Now, of course, she's even more dotty than I am and has agreed that I can get a second cat if I really want one. Except now I'm not at all sure that I do want a second cat. I don't want to upset Pud, but I can't imagine going her entire natural life without any other cats. It might be better to get another cat while she's young enough to adjust.

certainly would be better to get one while she is young, and they do accept kittens better than older cats.

You could get her a hamster!

Seriously though, if she goes outdoors then they may be able to cope with each other as they can have their own space.

It is a difficult one, as you can never tell.

I'd find it quite funny to have a food chain. Another idea that Fatty isn't in favour of.

i used to have gerbils and they had hours of fun tormenting the cats

My cousin used to have a ferocious rabbit that would chase dogs and my gran had a psycho cat that the whole neighbourhood was terrified of. It would hide in the doorway and attack anyone who walked past the house.

I'd like guinea pigs and a few canaries as well as three or four more cats. Not likely to happen while Fatty has a say. I might just get away with another cat though. Hopefully not such an energetic one as Pud. I adore her, and wouldn't change her, but I wouldn't want there to be two of her.

Her tail seems to be getting worse not better. It's scabby again and she's lost quite a bit of fur from the area, don't know if she's done that to it or if she's been fighting again. Should I take her back to the vet? Can I put germolene or TCP on it?

Also, she's been quite agitated the last couple of days, running round lots and more vocal than ever. Is she in pain? Or is it just because she's spending more time indoors now that the weather is colder so she's got more energy to spare and might be bored?
