Pancakes!
Laura Started conversation Feb 8, 2005
Every single year I make pancakes, rediscover they great they are and aim to make them on other days as well.
Every single year I forget.
So,
Note to self: Make pancakes!

I loved them when I was a child, but hardly ever eat them now - although I make them quite regularly - hubby s them, and when ever I have no idea what to cook - Bingo !!!

I make Scotch pancakes occasionally, but the ordinary sort is a once a year thing, which is odd as they're so simple and great when covered in sugar and lemon juice
Cooking pancakes with my housemates is quite interesting as well, ended up a huge tea-towell fight and not much of the washing-up water stayed in the bowl

That sounds like a lot of fun
Pancakes are really great , there's always milk, eggs and flour in the house, and they're even better when you take some sparkling water

I must confess to never having cooked it for myself before, but as I've these great organic sausages from over the road in teh fridge, and I do know* how to make it even if I've not done so before, and as I've an ideal dish in which to cook it I'll rport on how it goes You think three sausages will be enough for one person

I haven't eaten pancakes on pancake day for 3 years now. My late night here a work combined with ringing straight afterwards means I don't have time to make them, let alone eat them.
I'll have to make up for it at the weekend.
I made pancakes a lot when I was in uni. The left over batter was very useful when there wasn't any bread for breakfast.

It hadn't actually occured to me to have pancakes for breakfast but that's not a bad idea
Just finished my ginger and treacle sponge cake and chocolate and hazelnut brownies for the and party tonight. Now I've got to try not and eat them until 8pm

that sounds yum I think you might have to lock it up so you don't eat it I think eating pancakes for breckfast is quite common in some countyrs/cultures I am making batter tonight for toad in the hole, and hopefully they'l be a little* left over to make some pancakes with for afters I recon on three ounces plain flour, to one larigish egg, and as much milk is required to get it the right consistancey should make about enough for me oh, I'm going to have to put some salt in it, but I can leave out the pepper, and add that in to only that which is to be used in the toad in teh hole and no for the weet versions something like that I think

I hardly ever make cakes If I remember correctly, dumplings and cakes are about the two main things for self raising flour, It is* plain flour for batter isn't it?
Pancakes!
Laura Posted Feb 9, 2005
I'm not sure, I used self raising for my pancakes yesterday and they looked right. I guess because I bake so much I tend to automatically use self raising

I had a look on the BBC food thinggy and it seems to say plain flour for all the toad in the hole recipies, and for the pancake recipies too I shoudl really get on and begin making it soon or I'll be eating very* late again tonight

Doesn't self raising have somethign like baking powder in it? Did the toad in teh hole with the batter worked great; and my first time ever making batter, and ever having made toad in the hole didn't have any batter left to make pancakes though but then again, I was pretty stuffed after eating it all

Laura Posted Feb 9, 2005
Yep, it's just plain flour with the raising agents already added really. Great . My brownies won the best snack cake prize .
I was one of the judges, so after 26 slices of cake I am quite full
