The Illiterati...

As most of you would be aware...I go to pub trivia every week with my Dad and various ring-ins smiley - biggrin.

There was a new team on Tuesday. They were called "So long and thanks for the fish".

Part of me wanted to be their friend, because of the Adam's affiliation.

Part of me wanted to beat them about the head because they'd left out the *all* (as in "so long and thanks for *all* the fish).

So I decided to do nothing.

They beat us.

(Don't worry if you can't find a point...there isn't one..it's just been something that had been running around in my head...and I decided to put it somewhere else)

Jerms - a Brief flicker and then gone again.

smiley - grr The heathens!

Last time I entered a pub quiz, the poor MC dude kept getting his words wrong, poor guy...
...he finally gave up his microphone after asking 'In which Shakespeare play was the phrase "A pox on both your horses"?' and everybody in our team, as one, yelled the correction: "HOUSES!!" and then we were all laughing too hard to actually answer the question. smiley - rofl

...How does a team which can't even get their name right, manage to win a quiz night? smiley - huh grr.

thank you...I was worried about the extremities of my emotion towards them...I'm glad you understand smiley - cuddle.

I used to go with my Dad and his workmates...they used to bring their wives...he took me smiley - rofl

Then one by one they all disappeared until it was just me and Dad. Obviously we didn't play to win...it was just fun smiley - ok

Then my boy started coming along (this was before he was mine...but it was a very strong factor in him becoming mine smiley - winkeye)...and it was just us for months...

...now it me, Dad, the boy, my sister, her boy and my girl...6 on the team smiley - ok

We still never win...but it's fun...and there's beer smiley - cheers!

Blackberry Cat , if one wishes to remain an individual in the midst of the teeming multitudes, one must make oneself grotesque

I'm glad I got it right when I used it as the title for a journal entry. If I hadn't I'd have probably been drummed off hootoo smiley - laugh

Blackberry Cat , if one wishes to remain an individual in the midst of the teeming multitudes, one must make oneself grotesque

smiley - laugh I usually keep this pretty quiet here but I'm not a big Adams fan. I read the books and enjoyed them but they weren't something I have ever wanted to reread.

...oh, by the way, it's taking me forever to read "in the name of the rose"...I'm really gonna have to find a site that's already translated the latin bits in it...I feel like I'm missing out on half the book smiley - yikes

clzoomer- a bit woobly

Moodsy tabernac, rat batard as my fellow Francophone Canucks would say. They didn't deserve to win! But M'dear the name is *The Name of the Rose* if you're referring to Mr. Eco's work. I agree with you about the Latin, but for gawd's sake stay away from his newest, *Baudolino* It is boooooooooooooooooooriing! And pretensious. (Spelling?)

Anyway, I just finished w**k and it was a very late w**k so naturally as a guy I just want to sleep now.

smiley - winkeye

smiley - cheers

clsmiley - run

Finishing work in 5 minutes...then off to clean the house because I have a guest staying over smiley - winkeye
