What the hell is control theory anyway? (assuming it's not another 2legs creation )

No, no... It's basically about controlling (there's the magic word) the output of a process. A simple example is getting a reactor to the right temperature: you turn a knob producing a current which means "I want it to be at 2000°C," and the control system acts like Lieutenant Data and "makes it so," even if the process fluctuates somewhat.

We go into stuff like feedback, and in the end it's all about a load of maths. The more detail I go into, the less you'll wish you asked, so I'll stop right here.
