an epidural is injected into the base of the spine if i am right.

some mothers have woken up paralysed, some haven't woken up, and some births have been made extremely difficult due to a spaced out mother not being very helpful and the child has ended up 'damaged'.

i know it is all a bit horrific, but i would never let a woman have an epidural if she were giving birth to my child.

how did Radio show get to child birth anywaysmiley - huh

Wake up? An epi doesnt put you out..or affect your conciousness at all.. its a needle into the epidural space in the lower back..and merely blocks the nerves from the waist down so you can still pressure.. you couldnt be uncious because you still do all the work smiley - ok are you not mistaking a different type of anaesthethsia? If done by a goood antaeasthatist and you keep still while its done you'll have nothing but slight back ache.

how can you say you 'wouldn'tlet' your childs mother have one? for a start you wouldnt be the one in absolute agony! they're usually offered after hrs n hrs of extreme pain when the mother is exhausted n needs to rest before getting to the real work! I'd been in labour for over 13 hrs when i had mine..n jsh wasnt born for another 12! could you watch someone in agony for that long?
I wouldn'tve had the strength to push if i haddnt had..in fact i'd prolly have collapsed..causing distress to the baby (the longer it goes on(once in proper labour) the more oxygen they lose as other things start to break down) and probably a c-setion..which is awful..to name a few things.

Ok Birthing horror stories

With Alex I was given a choice of a spinal block which was one injection or an epidural as I was having a cesaerian so I chose the block, it didn't work so I had the epidural which didn't work so they combined both which made me numb from the chest down but gave me backache, to combat the ache they gave me nitros oxide in with the oxygen I was having, I was off the planet within seconds. Cesaerians cause wind.
