Lil,
Yes, there are questions that will lead to a full revelation, albeit they'll only be deduced a little at a time. Consider it as 'reverse-engineering the story'. In other words, the riddle is the end of the tale; all the questions and answers will help reconstruct what happened 'then' to prompt the reaction 'now'.
Is the stew rancid? -- No

because he was already insane...bit pedantic but would he not take a mouth full rather than a bite, given it was stew...one would take a bite from a chicken leg or a side of beef, but a mouth full of stew?

A man goes into a restaurant.
He orders a bowl of pelican stew.
The waiter brings one to him.
The man takes one bite of the stew and goes insane.
Why?
Is the man allergic to any of the ingredients in the stew?

Does the man ingest anything else during his stay at the restaurant?
Pelican Stew...
Todaymueller Posted Jun 2, 2009
1. Is it connected to what the pelican was eating before it became part of a stew ?
2. Is it the pelican component of the stew that makes the man insane , or some other ingredient ?
3. I am starting to think it may be along the lines of ' becouse a ***** cant but a peli can ' ?
Is my dog cocking his leg in the right woods even if he is not barking up the right tree .
