Six months till I go back....
John Luc Started conversation Nov 2, 2003
It's been nearly two weeks since I've returned from Ohio, but I wanted to go back the minute I set wheels in Kentucky.
The Ohio Valley is wonderful! Sure, there's not much to do there, but since I work all the time it doesn't really matter to me. As long as I have good friends to hang out with I'm happy.
My goal at this point is to work and save every dime I can get. With this money I will return to St Clairsville and to the ones I love.
I have to. I promised their dog I would.
Whilst I am preparing for another long haul to the North I am looking for another path, careerwise. Pharmacy school looks promising, but so does Medical Transcription. Anyone got any ideas?
I don't like humans, I don't like their spawn, either. I'm good with computers and working with my hands. I don't mind repetitive stuff, cause it means I'll just get better and faster.
Can anyone offer any suggestions? As far as money, as long as I can make enough to take care of myself and my family I'm happy. The purchase of a $3000 entertainment system can wait.

have you considered bioinformatics? if you were over here, i'd tell you to stay as far away as possible from it, but seeing as you're in the states... i hear there are some pretty good schools over there.

Ah, I knew I could count on my favorite boffin to reply!
What is bioinformatics? Telling Life to buzz off? Seriously, I'm open to any suggestions. I just want to get away from this animal hospital!
Thanks Keyan!

bioinformatics - well, putting biology and computers/math together, really. learning about relationships in biology/genetics etc, and then putting together programs for them - especially for biodiversity work. have a look at this: http://life.anu.edu.au/

Very interesting....I'm not one for biology, though. I'll watch the lions go at it on the Discovery channel, but that's about it.
I'm still working out where you are, Dear Boffin. My head is clearer now so I can think somewhat better.

ooh. have fun. and go on -guess! i'm deriving a great deal of entertainment from all this. (well, from everyone who's had a shot at trying to determine my exact location. 'course, the funniest one i've heard is - believe it or not - 'texas')

I figured you were enjoying this immensely. However, I shall keep my guesses within my emails, in order to keep your whereabouts a secret. I know I'm not the first to work this dilemna out and I shan't be the last. So, I must not spoil the fun for "Future-Farlander-Finders".

I shall, no worries.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I must contact a nurse - I think I'm having a reaction to my codeine syrup.

codeine! the cough syrup i had to take a couple of months back had one ingredient that was *stronger* than codeine! i was hallucinating the whole time i was on the medication, to the extent that i couldn't get work done 'cos i thought there were wookiees dancing around in my head.
