WHO'S GOT EYES???

Hi Terri and co! you're so lucky that you don't have day job to worry about I'm a naturally noturnal person but I'm forced to have something like an normal sleep wake pattern! I manage by giving my self an adrenliene boost by going to the gym when I need to be awake for a while and eating a bit meal when I know I'm supposed to sleep!

I've converted back to GOO now, and it's soo much nicer that that vile alabaster stuff I was briefly distracted by which is no good whatso ever! well all you can say 'bout that is that it's better than Brunel!

Thanks good I'm away from the worlds slowest internet connect that they had at the last hospital I was working at! I start my new placement on Monday and I bet they'll be forceing me back to Ala**baster again!

I changed skin three times in a day once! it just relfects the mood I'm in to be honest!

Gym and food timing really seem to work for me but sometimes I just can't sleep and then the next day's ruined, gosh I'm a student I feel sort of conned that I have to be up and functional or I fact consequences!

It is harder just because you HAVE too, I bet. It IS a luxury(sp?) to follow your own body clock!

Hi Z, got you at last! Just left a message for you on th hi thread but I've got 3 hi threads, its v;confusing!!

Are you placed at Brummie hospitals or not allowed to say on here?
I'llpretend I don't know that; anyway I was born at Dudley Road & my mum & possibly dad died there & I'm tryng to find out more about some medical aspects to help my search for family. Is there any way you or any of your mates might be able to help?

Also is the B'ham Evening Mail still going; I've tried their website, but don't seem to be archives etc (for obituarys)

B'ham city council have a reasonable website, but to access records you either have to pay a fortune & know exact details of birth, death etc or visit the place on Broad St or the Central Library in person. All very frustrating!

Glad you're back on a better computer, glad you agree with me about the goo, anything else reminds me too much of officialdom!

Yes, I'm dead lucky with the lack of day job bit, so's smiley - elf; neither of us are at all cut out for "normality" in many ways! I've just been told I was strange, he was told he was lazy (neither is completely true, though both have a grain of truth!)

Going over to "eyes-mark 3" to log off fairly soon, time to at least try & get back to what approaches normality for me!

Hey, Z, if you do come over I've just had visions of all 3 of us fighting for our hootoo time (sod smiley - elfwork!) on 1 computer in 1 very small living (& sometimes sleeping) room!!

How BIG are you???!!!

kea ~ Far out in the uncharted backwaters of the unfashionable end of the western spiral arm of the Galaxy lies a small, unregarded but very well read blue and white website

"I've only tried valerian by itself, Terri, or with other herbs like hops, etc (I know, conjurs up images of beer - a pint of valerian & hops ), but, it's very effective."

valerian works really well for some people. others, like me, it has the opposite effect and gives me the jittters smiley - sadfacesmiley - weird

hops i've only tried in the bottled form smiley - smileysmiley - ale but that works smiley - winkeye. i've heard hops tea is great for sleep though.

i use scullcap tincture if i am getting really desparate to sleep or relax.

my alltime favourite though is oatstraw infusion smiley - magic

needs to be a medicinal strength infusion (not a tea). very very nerve nourishing and relaxing. i drink it during the day if i am wired and before i go to bed if necessary. its not a sedative, more a nourishing and tonifying herb - best used over a period of time.

st joan's wort/hypericum is another favourite of mine

smiley - love herbs smiley - love

i just posted some other sleep ideas in the ask h2g2 page as well (in a waking up tired thread)

its sunny and windy and cool here today. i'm trying ot take it easy smiley - zen

Hi Terri..

I've got your message on the hi thread.. yes I am on placements at hospitals around brum (just finished at Heartlands formerly East Birmingham Hospital, and going to Sandwell on Monday.. and I'm doing a research project based at Dudley Road, (now called City)) but I don't know how you'd go about finding out about records there.. One opition might be "the voice" it's a free council newsletter that's delivered to all houses in brum every so often, (about every couple of weeks..)

They have section in of people trying to contact people in birmingham.. things like "do you know Lynne Smith nee jones who used to work at Boots on the High street in 1973, if you do can you write to me at.. " etc..

This section on the council website tells you where to find them... If I were you i'd ring the editorial team and find out what you need to do.. or if you like I'll ring them tomorrow if I get home early enough. (if not I'll definately get home early enough on friday why not e mail me with the details if you want to go ahead this way..
In my experiecne (temping for various council departments in the holidays) e mailing them does not work because clerical staff in large don't have access to e mail only management do and they never deal with queries from the public so they tend to get ignored!

Glad go be back in GOO btw!
