smiley - hugphil the psychology was course was very interesting even thought it only lasted two hours. the tutor talked alot about how both our genes and our enviroment, the way we are brought up and lifes experiences shape us.smiley - smiley
phil i wonder if you could help me please, can you get kodak cameras. i only ask as they are alot easier to use (i have had one before) and i think are alot better than the throw camera. i have used a throwaway camera but it did not really work after the first snap.smiley - smiley

you two using my journal for chit chat eh LOL

you carry on!

well sue how are you feeling now are you still all achy?

my nan has got rheumatoid arthritis. she takes all manner of drugs for it.....prednisolone, co-proxamol, frusemide, kapake, ramipril tho i epxect not all of them are for arthritis.
i use co-proxamol myself as its a stronger pain relief than paracetomol its only on prescription.

kat what do you mean can i get kodak cameras? do you mean you want me to get you one? i dont quite understand! my camera is a kodak advantix which i told you about earlier is a really expensive film but the reason for that is the pics are alot bigger n more colourful than normal cameras.
well actually its my dads. do you want me to ask him where he got it from?
when i finish the film ill develop the pics n let you know how they turn out smiley - ok

are you going to do more on this psychology course? i really want to get involved with that say on an evening course but cus im on incapacity n disability living allowance i cant do a course for more than 16 hours a week. plus i have to pay for it all myself. i actually have to pay for prescriptions as well. iits crazy that im on benefits but still have to pay full whack.

smiley - hug's to you both see ya soon smiley - smiley

Hi Diddy! I just dropped into say well done m8 for getting through your difficult time.......

btw only prednisolone and co-proxamol and kapake are for her artheritis, frusemide is a diuretic (makes you pee more) and ramipril makes her arteries wider, frusemide and ramipril I expect are for heart problems or high blood pressure... ...

Sorry if that's showing off..

ooh and the form you need if you want to get free precribitions i think is an HC1 my Drs has a supply, and chemists sometimes have them as well.. it goes on your income rather than which benifits you are on. I know my mum got it when she was on a very low income but not acutal benifits.

hi Z!

i see iv been debating with you in another thread! nice to see you using some abbreviations LOL

well the form HC1 i have got but it doesnt cover prescriptions. not sure if thats the case for everyone who gets the form or im being singled out or what. i do get cheap dental treatment n if i want a wig thats cheap too LOL

yes thanks mate for the kind words. isnt easy getting over any addiction but heroin is particularly difficult. in fact im not quite over it. i take subutex (buprenorphine) on a daily basis. if you dont know what those are they still contain morphine like heroin n methadone but theres other chemicals in it to stop you using heroin n methadone which is what i wanted. i was on methadone for 3 years n thats more of an addiction than heroin ever was. i was told i could have stayed on it for life but to be honest i just want out of the whole drugs game. i dont even like taking pain killers now.

hope to chat to you soon smiley - smiley

hiya kat!

how you been then while iv been having a rest?

well i think you can get those kodak instant cameras from boots or max speilmann (not rite spelling i know!)

pls dont start me on benefits kat! i could write a full thread myself on them!
im on incapacity n disability living allowance at the mo. took bloody ages to get the DLA as well think it was 8 months.

the prob im having at the mo is with the council. i live with my parents but want to move closer to my gf. cus im single n male in my 20's the council are reluctant to give me anything decent. plus cus im on incapacity n not income support im not allowed any help in buying furniture. i can get a crisis loan but thats it. just a vicous circle been ill n on benefits. they expect you to pay for prescriptions when you need them but for people who are able to work n on income support they get them free.
i cant get income support cus apparently i get £9.35 over the limit.

never mind at least im alive eh LOL

smiley - hug's to you

Phil

smiley - wow getting off both heroin and methadone's a double victory, if you can manage that you'll manage to get off the buprenorphine, I hadn't heard of that one actually, though I should have done smiley - blush

I think you must have got HC2 level, that's the support you get when you don't qualifty for full support, but still get some consessions..

I seem to be noctual at the moment, I only think at this time of night..

so how do you know so much about prescription drugs then?

subutex is relatively new in this country n still very expensive. methadone is dirt cheap thats why they prescribe it to most people. a complete waste of time really cus it doesnt stop users taking heroin on top.

yes im nocturnal as well! i rarely go to bed before 5am.

funny thing is i get up quite early. i sleep as well in the evening around 6pm-11pm

smiley - ermsmiley - blush I'm a medical student, (but not the average posh sort of medical student-how do you think I know so much about benifits) so I have to learnt it all, and those I don't know I tend to look up in a textbook I keep by my computer.. According to this subutex only works when someone's a "moderate" user, but methadone can work for heavier users, because methodone's more simalr to herion. It doesn't say how you tell if someone's a moderate user.

I'm noctual at the moment cos I'm on study leave, so I'm sleepping twice a day, but I try not to during term time because then it's difficult to be awake at Uni, which rather unreasonably expects me to be in from 9 smiley - yikes

i wouldnt say methadone is similar to heroin. there isnt any 'buzz' from methadone at all. you do get a feeling specially when you first go on it but that goes in a few months.

subutex well yes in a sense its for 'moderate' users. if you're on methadone you have to go to as low as 20ml's a day which is the equivalent of a £10 bag of heroin so yes its not much. i had to reduce quite a bit to get down to 20 ml's before i was allowed to go on subutex. im on only 6mg a day but you can take up to 32mg a day. theres absolutely no 'buzz' whatsoever with it so its very different to things iv ben used to before.

oh you're a medical student! at uni or college?

when i was at college i did travel n tourism. i got offered a place at uni to do travel n tourism management but for some strange reason i decided not to. like yourself i didnt want to go in debt. its crazy that the country isnt doing enough to help students. i mean what does tony blair want? a country of unskilled manual labourers? im all for going to college n uni. i only wish i followed my studies up n carried on. i try not to regret anything tho. the life experiences iv had have made me into the person i am.

i like going to sleep twice a day as well! i love my bed LOL

I think it meant that methadone was simalar because it activated the chemical opitate receptor more strongly than subutex

I've just started my fourth year at uni, which means I've got two more years to go, it's a five year course. Going to uni was the best thing I ever did it got me out of the town I grew up in, this was the sort of place where you were luckly to get a job that paid minimum wage.

I know I'm getting into a hell of a lot of debt at uni, it scares me when I sit down and add it up so I don't! But then again I'm on the only course that comes with a garenteed(sp?) decent job so I'm going to be able to pay it back without any much worrying.

Unless I fail in which case it's nobodies fault but my own. With student loan you don't have to pay them back until you get a job, that pays more than a certain amouunt (think it's 16 K a year at the moment) and the amount you pay back depends on what you earn.

My absence

Post 40

Diddy!

do you have a job to help you out?

mind you i expect being a medical student doesnt give you much time to socialise or do much work does it?

not sure if you read all my original journal but iv given talks to medical students. they come once a year to the drugs clinic i attend. i talk to them about how drugs really affect you n what sort of life it can lead you into. i was lucky in the fact i didnt have to do any crime (apart from buy class A drugs). at the time i was working for a major internet bank which paid for it all.
iv known some people (including men) who have turned to prostitution amongst other things.

im also lucky in the fact iv got a phobia with needles so never used them.

the medical students iv seen go on a secondment to a local gp. they spend 1 day a week there.

so what sort of job are you looking to do in the future then? a hospital doctor? is it right that they have cut the number of hours that a junior doctor is allowed to do? when i overdosed on ecstacy once n was in the liver unit in queen elizabeth hospital in birmingham they had a junior doctor then who had done nearly 90 hours a week. how they expect someone to still be able to do a job properly after that many hours is unbelievable.

i wish you luck! smiley - smiley

Phil
