Some Walmart customers soon will be able to sample a new discount item -- Walmart's own brand of wine. The world's largest retail chain is teaming up with E&J Gallo Winery of Modesto, Calif., to produce the spirits at an affordable price, in the $2-$5 range. While wine connoisseurs may not be inclined to throw a bottle of Walmart brand wine into their shopping carts, there is a market for cheap wine, said Kathy Micken, professor of marketing at Roger Williams University in Bristol, RI. She said: "The right name is important." So, here we go:

The top 12 suggested names for Walmart Wines:
12. Chateau Traileur Parc
11. White Trashfindel
10. Big Red Gulp
9. Grape Expectations
8. Domaine Walmart "Merde du Pays"
7. NASCARbernet
6. Chef Boyardeaux
5. Peanut Noir
4. Chateau des Moines
3. I Can't Believe It's Not Vinegar!
2. World Championship Riesling
And the number 1 name for Walmart Wine ...
1. Nasti Spumante

My addition to the list would be Chateau Marmot with this as the label: http://www.lodgingchannel.com/lodging/BedandBreakfastGermany.com/images/common/marmot.gif

One of the other wines noted in the list on another website has #12 Martha Stewart's "Sour Grapes". I like that one, too.

Hey, one of your fellow countrymen is moving to Spain very soon - almost as nuts as moving to the Yukon, only less so. smiley - winkeye Also, cats instead of dogs . . .

Moving to Spain?? Well if someone's in shorts when everyone else is bundled up complaining about the cold, that'll be the Yukoner.
If they're Yukon cats they'll be tough. My friend with 100+ huskies also has two cats. They are in total control!
We're expecting snow later. smiley - smiley Where are my snowshoes?

Merde du Pays sounds just the ticket. Although I've had mid price French wines to which that could apply.

And I've never been into a WalMart. I lingered outside one near Woods Hole on Cape Cod while a friend went to get a SD card for a camera, and I've been into ASDA Walmart here in the UK a couple of times (but hate it).

I've never even seen a Walmart.

But a couple of weeks ago the supermarket in the Corte Inglés (huge dept store chain here) had a special offer on a rioja at €1 a bottle - and it was actually very drinkable! smiley - redwine

Château Chunder, which is an appellation contrôlée, specially grown for those keen on regurgitation; a fine wine which really opens up the sluices at both ends.
