As of yesterday, I'm a single free man again. No more best-behaviour, no more shaving every bloody day, my flat can now degenerate into the chaotic, messy batchelor pad it should be. No more conversations with her mother, no more Eastenders or Corrie Orrie, no more umm, no more er..., no more regular sex
My woman has left me, duh-duh-du-Duh.
She done left me alone, duh-duh-du-Duh.
I got those moaning blues, duh-duh-du-Duh.
and I'm gonna moan, duh-nuh-na-Duh. Duh. Duh.
looking on the bright side, though, my phone bills should be cheaper now.
On my own, again.

Nobody loves me, duh-duh-du-Duh.
And I'm in jail, duh-duh-du-Duh.
I got the wailing blues, duh-duh-du-Duh.
and I'm gonna wail, wwaaaarrrggghhhhh!
On my own, again.
Mycelium Posted Feb 24, 2003
My nights are lonely, duh-duh-du-Duh,
My days are too, duh-duh-du-Duh
I got that wailing feeling, duh-duh-du-Duh
So guess what I'm gonna do, Woooaaaaaahhhhhhhh-owww-how-how.
eat your heart out, Elmore James.

surely you mean Bo Diddley (I'm a man, spell it M-A-N)?
speaking of which, I bought a Derek & Clive CD last week and it has a track called Bo Duddley. D'you know it?

Wasn't that on the original Derek And Clive Live album?
I was running a record shop in Reading when it came out, so it must have been about 1978.

's'av a look....
Derek & Clive (Live), 1976 island records.
it says here "recorded at Electric Lady Studios, NYC" (which is where Jimi's Electric Ladyland was recorded) "and at the Bottom Line (Live) late 1973".
There's an awesome one liner on it; Peter Cook is talking soberly about blindness and how terrible it is, one can't do this, one can't do that, one can't read.....
"I am blind", he says, "but I can read thanks to a wonderful new invention called broil....."
".....I'm sorry, I'll feel that again...."
On my own, again.
akira100 Posted Feb 25, 2003
I remember reading about that once. Apparently someone bet Cook that he couldn't make a joke about blindness that was inoffensive, and, of course, being the genius that he was....

his delivery was perfect, as I'm sure you can well imagine. he was a great comedian. did you see him play the completely insane prime minister in 'Whoops Apocolypse'? with his scheme to reduce unemployment by encouraging employed people to commit suicide 'for Britain', thereby creating new jobs

Wasn't that The Rise And Rise Of Michael Rimmer?
(I might be wrong - it's a long time ago)

Mycelium Posted Feb 25, 2003
no, definately Whoops Apocolypse. most of the 'comic strip' crowd were in it. and Rick Mayall played the useless SAS commander.
Not on my own, anymore.
