I am beside myself with worry. Twinny is so ill. It seems too for words. She has waited years for help. Her paperwork for Social Services has been approved but is somewhere between a lawyer and a judges desk deciding on a date for retro benefits. Meantime she has no Dr, no medication. The state did tests that proved something (?)but she does not even know what! She cannot get help otherwise because she does not have a Dr. She cannot get a Dr. cause she does not have help(insurance/income)She is at the end of her rope She now has no phone no computer and I am 1200 miles away

Does the US have an equivalent of the Citizens Advice Bureaux? In the uk it is a chain of government/charity funded offices which of free advice on everything from legal problems, debt problems to benefit systems.

Thats how she got this help They say its OK'd...wait...its coming..6-12 wks....then again and again the lawyer gets his fee from the retro-paid benefits. He is trying to get more money of course. Butt gee whiz..just SIGN IT! so it can go sit on someone elses desk for another 6-12 weeks....*dang-it posted this topic twice*

I am going to have to be very very careful here
I cannot express my incomprehension that a country which appears to feel it is entirely justified in possibly plunging the rest of the world into war seems unable to have a health system that provides even basic health care rights to those who need them most (ie those who DON'T have loads of money, access to communications etc.)
Are you SURE there's no system whereby she's not allocated a social worker who sorts all this out?
Does she have an M.P? (member of parliament, don't know what the U.S equivalent is)
Is there no charity that could take on her case & help out?
What's her local radio station?
Could she handle personal publicity if she was held up as a "test case" to show what a sh*t system it seems to be?

don't worry about it!
Ive got the only bloody broadband connection which is slower than the previous system in the world!
I'm back on the "who"s got eyes 4" where z & neutrogen are being persuaded to stay so I stand a chance of catching people
--see you there maybe?

She is very private and not a fighter for herself. I have pushed ,prodded and nudged her all the way. She let things go a few times due to depression ,humilty and dreams of snapping out of it. She is just plain stuck between a rock and a hard place as they say. She refuses to go into debt more to get temporary help, that will more than likely get her no where, without the assurance she can pay a Dr. reguarly Everything is supposedly approved(per lawyer) JUST the retro date as far as I know is(was) hanging them up! Her daughter & herself have begged the lawyer to just pick a date already! The problem is the short term and the permanent disability goes to the same place! Usually the short term gets approved first NOT SO! She was turned down 3 times until she got a lawyer(typical) They take % of the money coming .Who cares at this point (lawyer does),if they short her a year or two! She will need $$ from the back to get her life going.Because she has lived with her daughter and 4 total kids(1) remaing of hers . She is considered to have her daughters income Ha! not enough! A single woman raising 4 kids and having a sick Mom is doing the best she can. If sis were on the streets NO roof over her head, she would get help in therory.I take that back ~~without an address it is quite difficult. There are more details but she is so private I do not want to go into it. It is infuriating/// the state of health care here. It has been a mess for too long. Every election it is an issue BUTT every president has failed to do anything but make things worse. The good people working in health care are leaving in droves. The unexperienced and previously retired are returning because the money is now good like never before. I cannot keep going on this......Thanks for all suggestions.

Just worked this out; thought I was going mad(der).
You've got 2 convo's called Twinny & I've posted on both of them.
Good job I said basically the same sort of thing on both of them!
Have you heard from her at all recently?

No, almost 2 weeks. I spoke to her youngest, my sweetie ,she lived here too, she is with mom (sis) now, working since the first day she was eligible to. Its unusual for teens here ,most would leave home rather than give up their earned spending money to the household. The child has worked for 2 years now, rarely having a penny to herself. There are certainly worse situations out there,I know. It has just been so long, without a break, for her.
