I am curious about why a natural herb remedy, that helps pain, nausea, muscles, appetite, mood is so bad mouthed and illegal. The herb is very helpful to many. There is no *official industry*, but certainly an industry does exist. Would people be more accepting if it were taxed industry? smiley - discoThen DO IT!smiley - discoLet the alcohol people take on the herb, rather than fight against it.smiley - disco I understand the benefits of alcohol taken in small amounts. I also understand there has been a lot of emotional and physical violence and illness and death do to this *newly discovered* alcohol remedy. It cannot be controlled as an RX, same complaints with the herb.It also cannot be acurately measured dose, as all bodies deal with alcohol differently.Alcohol causes euphoria that the herb is strongly chastised for!Everyone wants to take any hint of euphoria out of the herb! Why is a very ill, or very painful, cancer,or long term condition with a bit of euphoria such a sin! Alcohol HAS proven to be dangerous, euphoria producing, addicting, freely available SO age limits are applied. There is a tremendous lobby effort on the alcohol industries behalf. Just like the energy companies that need to take a risk and expand into new areas of growth(solar, wind hydrogen) Maybe the alcohol or pharmacutical industries should too. When you cannot fight them, join them.Especially when the fight is MORE dangerous and less effective.

hi Abbi

are you talking about the weed ?

i would hate for the pharmaceutical companies to get their legal hands on it. better i think for governments to retain control and legislate accessibility. pharmaceuticals and big business are notorious for their self interest rather than humanity's.

i agree that the alcohol/weed thing is hipocracy.

marijuana and alcohol do behave very differently in the body especially in the long term. i'm totally in favour of access for medical reasons. i'm not sure about the general population. long term use does serious damage to developing minds and teenagers will be the first to take advantage of widespread decriminilisation.

I am not for total legalization or kids using , or even promoting it. Just think it could be considered a viable option for relieving suffering ;when it works better for *some with lessened neg side effects than traditional medicines. Thinking of some basic rules to practicing medicine: smiley - discoDo no harm smiley - disco relieve suffering smiley - discoheal thyselfsmiley - disco

no, I'm not for complete, or total legalization either, abbi, just a loosening of the restrictions (for medical purposes)...& I do agree with kea, that the pharmaceutical industry and/or big business getting their 'finger's in the pie', could be kind of a steep & slippery slope, so to speak smiley - erm, you know who'd benefit there...not the public.
