I'm fretting as I have an audition on Friday and still haven't made up my mind what to sing! I'd like to sing 'She Loves Me', but I've lost the sheet music. I could sing 'Mister Cellophane', as it's my party piece and I know it inside out, but do I really want to sing "you can look right through me...and never know I'm there" at an audition? Or I could sing any number of generic love songs, but I don't like generic.
Plus I have some sort of lingering cold thingy, so don't want to risk going too near the top of my range. All so frustrating.

Awww....
*Passes over some honey cough drops.*
I'd sing the one that you can have the most fun with- people respond to people when they're enjoying themselves!
Good luck!

Thanks.
Voice still not in great shape, so I've gone with a song that requires no belting and doesn't go anywhere near my top B-flat. 'Tonight at Eight' from She Loves Me - fun, neurotic-sounding song to sing. With a cut song from Cabaret, 'I Don't Care Much' in reserve, in case the pianist can't cope with the breakneck tempo of my first pick. Less than four hours to go...

Well, how did it go then?
Are you a superstar yet?
do I need to get a bigger autograph book?

It went, um, OKish. I forgot one of the lines of the song, which was mortifying, as that's never ever happened to me before. And I still haven't got my full vocal range due to lingering cold and sore throat type things, so could only go up to a 'G' when they got me to do scales (I can usually reach an 'A' or sometimes a 'B flat').
It's for a local amateur operatics group, and they will write to me this week to let me know the outcome. So I shall be a little nervous as I sort through the various flyers coloured red, blue, yellow and green every day to see if they've contacted me. The audition is to join the group. To take on lead roles, I would have to audition for those specifically. Their next show is 'Me and My Girl' and there's a perfect part for a young tenor in it, so if I get in to the group, I'll definitely be trying for that role.
I wouldn't get a huge autograph book just yet. And one of my colleagues has already bagged the chance to write my official biography in the event that I randomly get discovered and catapulted into international stardom! She's a bit mad, really.
I just can't believe I forgot a line. I just missed it out, but it was fairly obvious that I'd forgotten it!
