California here I come...

Until now, I've been content to consider a vacation to California singing a mangled version of the lyrics to James Taylor's 'Carolina in my Mind'.
However, on Sunday I depart at 6:00 AM () towards the Golden State. Specifically, San Francisco.
It'll be interesting, but don't expect anything from me from this Sunday to the Sunday after it. I might get online when I'm there, but I wouldn't count on it.
So all of you take care of each other. Don't let h2g2 descend into a fit of chaos and corruption while I'm gone.

The song that comes to my mind is the Mamas and the Papas 'Calafornia Dreaming'.
Hope you have a nice time!

Oh no. Hyp, you take care of and keep him away from Verc!
Thanks all. I can't say I'm looking forward to waking up at 3:00 AM tommorow, but the plane ride will be a good excuse to read some books.
Oh, and the city will probably have something to it...

Jodan, in case you don't see holiday good wishes on other, possibly lurked threads, forget the UG for the week and have a great time in California.
I think America is somewhere I'll never get to. Whenever the finances and time allow Africa calls too loudly, but the USA has some wonderful places. Watched a programme about the wolves in Yellowstone the other night - beautiful place.

Well thank you for the good wishes... twice.
I don't think I could do Africa. Not the time there, but the travel. I hate planes... Don't want to be on one too long.

Never thought about that.
Well, I can write about the history of something I don't like, can't I? Like earthquakes in California or the San Francisco Fire...
Yes. I'm in California right now. Having fun too. Thanks.

Have you ridden a cable car yet? Or been to see the 'Seal Rocks'!
Pin will be upset if you don't go see the Seals!

Yeah, of course you can write about the history of something you don't like. It's just quite amusing...

I have done both. I saw a Sea Lion rock and the Sea Lions at Pier 39.
All very touristy, but good fun.
