hi mina...
mmmmm... yes some sites unfortunately disappear while others appear from nowhere...
tho' the machine's potential even now is incredible... maybe instead of listing the sites as such in the GE we could mention what services are provided through the digibox... eg: job search... dating services... text messages... chat... banking... shopping... etc... without forgetting email of course...
a link to the site mentioned by diddy! [as long as it passes the criteria] would give the opportunity for researchers to have a more detailed and kept up-to-date list of the sites available...
the main point in the GE would/could be the fact that now the digibox is one working [with limitations of course... but working all the same] alternative way of accessing h2g2 and all the DNA sites as well as the bbc sites... something that's definitely worth mentioning...
and of course what it can and can't do compared to a computer... tho' it can be done with a positive view... accessing conversations is an important aspect for a newbie coming straight from a tv interactive site... it gives them the chance to have a "feel" of the site and contribute...
while entries produced with a digibox can't be too lengthy, some respectable sized entries have been written and made the edited status by digibox users... so even with its limitations the machine can do quite a lot...
it also gives a chance to the digibox users to make the choice to get or not a computer according to what they want to achieve later on...
mmmmm... more needed in here...
my brain is not in full gear yet...
but i will definitely come back to you on that...
diddy! and kow... still post/email me the info/details... what might not make it in a detailed form in the GE can still be included in another LDers' entry... we haven't produced one for ages [well it seems ages now with all the improvement...] and a new entry with new info for the LDers' space would be welcome...
mina... i will definitely call anytime i need help/assistance etc on how to present the GE...
talk later everyone... i DO need that ... [starting to regret last night's lurking now...]

missed a post or two...
guys... it seems that we have a kind of collaborative work there...
some of it to be formatted for the GE and the "unformatted" one for the LDers' space...
talk soon...

hi manda...
... even better... will make life easier as i won't have to worry too much about space... should not be a too lengthy entry [i hope...] but it might cover two or three "digibox allowed" size pages...
diddy!... read email... fair point... i explained a few things in my reply... and will definitely not mention a certain cable company in the edited entry...
mina... could the GE be produced as a collective work?!... seems fairer that way as everyone is contributing/helping one way or another... [and kinda follows the spirit of the LDers' space at the same time somehow...]
and anyone saving me from a massive headache deserves credit me thinks...
[tho' it doesn't mean i will not enjoy writing it; i will enjoy it more that way that's all...]
talk later everyone...

hi all
yes i think we all should contribute in the areas we hav the most info for. kow sounds like the person who knows about the technical side which i dont. im gonna hav a look thru all the sites over the weekend and write a brief bit about wot u can actually do on them. if sum of them are the same like the games sites for instance ill omit the ones that dont apply. that way we all can concentrate on sumthing different rather than all of us doing the same work. ill hav a better think about this wen iv had sum sleep. like u loup im finding it hard to concentrate. mite keep u awake but it makes u agitated and restless. ill email both u kow n loup with the same info that way u can both see wot u will want and wot u dont. im sure together we can produce a well written guide that everyone will find beneficial, digibox users who mite not be aware of wot the box is capable of and pc users who really dont know wot the box does apart from tv channels. im sure after we do this we will all hav a much beta understanding on wot the digibox is capable of.

hi kow!
u just beat me to it LOL i did look at it and im quite impressed by it. its more streamlined and not so bulky as the other one weve got. the one weve got is not really wot i wud call a remote its far too big! where do u find this info out LOL u seem to find stuff out before even the TW staff! i think u will def make a valuable contribution to this guide were doing cus u can keep us up-to-date on everything new thats coming out. i also went on that digital spy site u told me about. i didnt even know the name of the games til i went on there. as long as the firewall stays down the better it will be for us.
thanks again kow

yep... something to get our teeth in... i might have a look at all the threads where i tried to explain to some pc users [we've got a lot of pc users who are understanding and supportive on here...] what a digibox is... that will give me something to start with... at least for the draft version...
the digibox concept is something that we take for granted but quite difficult for pc users to comprehend at first... they will definitely welcome an entry that explain it all... i have the feeling that some might not have asked what was a digibox thinking they might look silly for not knowing... the same here re: PDA... i never dared asking what it was... [tho' i think there is an entry about it... will do a search later on...] pc users didn't really need to know what was a digibox before but, as the presence of digibox users is more visible now, they will want to know what it is about...
... that's the end of my broadcast for today [at least on this subject...]...
talk later everyone...

hi kow!
yep im up late again LOL its 5am! im not really gonna mention the emails on here apart from keep sending them! the trouble with the email address on the net iv got is its got a 6mg limit on there and i already had sum pics on there from my friend in oz which iv had to store in another email. iv got 43% storage space left which is about 2.8mg so u should be able to send sum more now kow so thanks again!
loup
iv started already going thru the sites and wot iv done is sumthing uv already mentioned in this thread and thats writing down wot u can get from the digibox eg oderig food, texts, email etc etc. ill writ a list of things u can do on there then on a separate list ill put all the sites down and write wot u can do on each one (briefly)
wot i wud like to know is this.....are we just writing about the interactive side of it or the tv channels as well? cus theres things like pay-per-view and using the red button to do things on the tv like kw mentioned on another thread with BB? think ill stick to wot im doing now for the time being and send u an email about it before wed nite. unfortunately i wont hav much time to research this on mon or tues cus ill be with my gf both days. but i will get u the email to u on wed nite .
oh yes kow wot exactly is this liberate software u mentioned cus iv never heard of it? i dont actually know anything about the digibox software at all. actually i wasnt aware of much of wot the digibox can do apart from going in LD and in email i dont use anything else so from looking thru the sites iv gained quite alot of knowledge from it which im sure other users will find beneficial.
anyway enough of me waffling on time for sleep and i mean it this time!

In answer to the question - yes you can make this a collaborative entry. If you can't use the digibox to add Researchers to the entry, then we can do it if you give us a list of people you want credited. Although only the Researcher who starts the entry can actually edit it.

Loup Dargent Posted Nov 24, 2002
hi mina...
...
i can add the researchers' numbers in the box... i've done it before for some LDers' entries... then when it's edited it can be listed properly...
hi diddy!...
don't worry too much about the TV channels... apart from a mention that we can "interact" with some programmes... [like 24/7 for big brother on bbc4 last time...... i dunno about the celebs one... don't have time to watch TV anymore...]
but don't worry too much if some of the stuff can't be used for the GE; we will make use of it for some LDers entries... so it won't be wasted...
oh well... i better start writing some notes now...
doesn't look such a big task anymore... i suppose because it's a subject we know about it makes things easier too... and of course everyone bringing some varied info/details/ideas etc it will assures that the entry will be as informative as possible...
talk later everyone...
