What do they know?
Fish's Freak Posted Jan 31, 2006
Well, a couple of friends of mine were in weight-watchers type groups - one was excited becasue she was still allowed to eat eggs, and the other hadn't changed noticably in around two years, so I decided to go it alone. In the past year, I've lost around 40 kilos (so imagine what I looked like before!) and this has ellicited three reactions - people either tell me I look great and are proud of or happy for me, or that they think I must be anorexic
and are worried, or they resent me for being able to do it. Most people are really supportive of me though - in fact, the only person who reacted negatively was a friend who has struggled to lose weight, and I hate to say this but I think she was jealous.
But I get what you say about the 'screw it' - Thursday - Sunday were 'oh, stuff healthy eating' days for me, just because I was feeling down both mentally and physically and needed sugar boosts and comfort food. But I don't do it often, and I know my limits, and whatever - if I eat junk food I always aim to work it off by doing extra excercise.
A thing was, though, that when I visited my family recently they all said how great I was looking and that I should stop losing weight. But it's like you said, I'm not happy, and more to the point, I'm still overweight. But I don't worry about it as much as I used to. No-one seems to care that much nowadays.

I'm now within the range of my 'target weight', and am usually alright at keeping it.
I think as long as you find something that is good for you and stick to it, that's all you need.

The thing I was worried about was maintaining a weight - I know how to lose weight, and how to gain weight, but not sure how to keep it the same.

If you lower it enough it will reach a point where it can't go any lower. I've been there for years.

Then why do you laugh at some of the cheesy things that I say?
