Is bigamy legally possible then?

I came across this article on the Gruniad website today.
It talks about gay marriages and the subsequent furore in Usian politics. The thing that I found the most interesting was the statement that the couples who marry in Massachusetts are only legally wed there. So if they move to Florida, they're legally single again. Doesn't that just open up all sorts of possibilities for bigamy? The legal consequences of not allowing gay marriage everywhere must surely be worse than the perceived consequences of allowing it?
Anyhow, we don't treat people very well in my mind. Why ban love?
