DancingTree and I will be extending our family in July with the arrival of Sam. Our little boy has four legs, a gray coat and a moustache. We're very happy as we took a while to find a breeder that we felt was trustworthy and shared our ideas.
I'll post some pictures of him when I can and link to them.
In other news, my parents are over. Usually it's a 'joy' to have them, but so far, so good this time.

Sorry!
Sam is a very handsome young grey/salt/pepper miniature Schnauzer, from a good Welsh family, with his tail intact. He's currently the smallest in the litter, although he wasn't the last to be born. We picked him on the basis of a good temperament despite size, a white front paw and the fact that he licked DT. The others were perfectly happy to be lap puppies as well, but only Sam showed some colour and licked a thank-you.
I'm glad you posted actually, I wanted to ask how you'd coped with lots of work and two new puppies when you got Patsy and Edina. I wondered if you'd have any tips or hints for me? As DT works from home we were thinking of trying to get him the mornings 'free' by getting the puppy used to a few hours at a time on his own, and then DT could keep him company in the afternoon. We could then walk him together when I come home once he's old / big / settled in enough, and spend the evening together as well.
I already got a couple of books - Perfect Puppy by Gwen Bailey and another one on pickig the right puppy for you. Oh, and the AA guide to dog-friendly places to stay in the UK. Planning ahead y'see..
Plus, it was nice that when we went to see him my mum and dad were over so they got to see him as well, cause otherwise they won't until next year or so. Although they don't understand why we're agonising over everything - their response is 'for goodness sake it's only a dog!' which is true, but doesn't always help.
Anyhow, how are you, apart from on the folic? Job OK? Hubby job sorted out? Patsy and Edina good? etc?

Ooh, I'm jealous!
He sounds lovely, and you made a good decision based on his temperament - I'm sure you'll all have a great life together.

Hi Claire
Thanks for the support there. It was actually very hard to pick one from the litter. It was a very large litter for minis, 7 pups, 3 girls and 4 boys. We didn't care whether we got a boy or a girl, so we got first dibs on the boys. They were so young, they hardly had any personality or any specific qualities that made you sit up and think 'that's my one'.
Now I just want to go shopping for puppy stuff. It's all really rather exciting. You're signing your life away, for a dog, and it's exciting.
Mind you, I'm jealous of your cats. Stupid hubby's allergies. It meant we've been quite limited in our search for a pet, and schnauzers were kind of 'it' as it turned out.
Right, have the day off, must go get dressed and do things. I love reading in bed first and last thing in the day if I have holiday - it feels very decadent, but in a very innocent way.
How's your summer going, anyway? Show must go on?

Hiya,
I love schauzers, they always look so sweet and cheeky. Although I love my cats and wouldn't be without them, I really want a dog. Actually, I think Dan and I have the number of dogs that we want up to about twelve at the moment...
I had last week off - was great. The show was fantastic, and it just makes it more enjoyable if you don't have to get up to go to work.
Everything's a little flat now it's over, but I've just been cast in the next one, so onwards and upwards!

He's home with us, handling the whole thing like a pro. We're not, I'm barely restrainin DT from sleeping on the couch, just in case...

What a little cutie! Are you enjoying having him around? How is the toilet training coming along?
