So you know that the only way to communicate with my dear one is via internet right? Wellll...last night I went to hibernate the machine, and it froze. I didn't think anything of it; windows craps out all the time. But this morning, I turned the net on, but nothing. No IP address or anything. Cable modem appeared to be working, so I did the stupic power cycle routine a few dozen times, with several reboots and connection repair attempts for good measure. I called the cable company. She suggested more of the same. I called again, and was referred to tech support. He said he could talk to my modem but not my computer. Damn it. He faffed around a bit, had me flip around the ethernet cable, etc., then finally asked me to use it as a USB device (the cable for which I actually found, glory be) and said I would need the driver disk (which I couldn't find). So I toodle down to the Cable company to beg a disk off them. Oh, before this, I had the aggravating experience of restoring my computer to an earlier date, which did f*ck all, and tried to undo it, which it insisted would work, which didn't. So I also now have the joy of redoing my desktop cleaning. So anyway, got that disk, brung it home and the computer wouldn't read it. There was nothing in my CD-Rom drive. So I tried other CDs. Oh, they worked just fine. Thoroughly pissed off, I found one of those AOL startup disks that everyone has lying around and signed up for an account for the purpose of downloading drivers. Did that successfully, and tried to install, but had to call tech support again for my account info. *Then* I had to call and cancel f*cking AOL, hellish experience as usual, what with the 'why are you canceling?!?' and 'are you sure?!?!?!?!'s for half an hour. Lies upon lies came out of my mouth. I wasn't about to say I raped off them some free bandwidth for making another provider's sh*t work. Buahaha. So yeah, here I am *finally*. Didn't get here in time to talk to my dear one though .

That's sucky. Let's hope that doesn't happen to me when I get home. I will cry if my laptop implodes like that. For some reason, when I'm alone with technology, it doesn't seem to like me.

Well, having scanty selection in the house, I made a bloody mary with white wine. I'm mellowing out, slowly but surely.
