Having been on here a few days, and having loved you and your word creations (though the 'what's wrong with americans' thread leaves a little to be desired) i think i'd like to think about contributing if i can think of an idea. Hello
I'm afraid someones beaten you to Yellow Submarine A295562, but good choice
Also I'm now going to show my colours as someone who likes Doctor Who, and ask (if your are doing an entry on Nyssa) have you heard the new audio adventures featuring her and the 5th Doctor? Just thought I'd mention them in case you hadn't heard before you end up in peer review with pedantic doctor who fans circling for the kill.
Lots of serious psychological conditions in there, although I think the most serious condition is liking connect four (that game used to drive me up the wall, but that could be down to my brother ). I hope you haven't been exposed to them all (said the fool wandering in to the minefield, sorry if this is insensitive).
However I would like to see you get some of these entries past the bunch of prudes in the moderation department
Sorry if this is a bit rambling but I've been doing some Uni work today and my brain is tired. I just wanted to say hello and post a little about this list, but I got a bit carried away.
Well, hope to see you around (if I haven't made a burk of myself)

p.s. Welcome to h2g2 by the way, no doubt you've had aces dropping on you out of the blue welcolming you already.

Thank you for perusing my little list..yes unfortunately, every disorder/alternative state of being (or not being) that is there has some personal relevance to me. (suicide and BPD - my husband (RIP ), autism - my brother, apraxia - my little boy, Rh Disease - myself (only a pregnancy problem), etc etc. . Suicide might be a tricky one for me to tackle, since I'm sure it would just turn into a rant supporting my 'pro-choice' stance on the issue.
Yes, I'm a Doctor Who fan, though not active for some years (life distractions you know). Actually my daughter's official nickname is 'Nyssa.' Her teachers of course have no idea of the reference. It's funny to come to this site as Nyssabird, and you Britons catch both the Nyssa reference, and the 'bird' (though that was unintentional). Well, I am girl (you might have been able to tell by my pictures) so it all works out .
And you say you ramble on?...Youre in good (?) company.

>Thank you for perusing my little list
No problem, it's nice to see someone with something to write about
I thought you might have experienced all that (it was an unusual collection), but I sort of hoped I was wrong. I don't think I could have handled a fraction of that let alone the lot.
About the entry on suicide (sorry, felt I had to reply), I think your probably right, it is too close, too tied up in how you feel(how could it not be). I remember last summer during an office job one of the staff, well, didn't come back in the worst way. And I don't think his aquantances could think clearly enough to write about it, let alone anyone closer to him. (I better stop on this subject while I'm behind)
Well, your in the right place for Doctor Who fans, there are loads in the guide, I think there is even a group (but I've never been there). Thats probably why the referrence is picked up so quickly (I'm not sure a teacher over here would pick up the referrence either. Though I wouldn't want to risk it).
Actually I always thought Nyssa sounded like a nice name.
I wish I'd come up with an interesting or appropriate name, but I got put off because every time I tried to join other sites every name I chose was already taken several thousand times over. So my h2g2 name is a bit of a last five minutes on a Friday job, oh well, I may end up being more creative later.

p.s. Nice to know I've got company, and I'll assume it's good

I'll try to be the very bestest company - scouts honor . speaking of which, if you ICQ, i do as well.
yes, my short life seems to have had it's share of odd occurences, but of course i'd have it no other way. ray (my husband) for example was something most would see as a terrible experience, horrible influence, etc., yet I feel that I've had the honor of being intimately involved with the life and death of an exquisitely beautiful piece of creation. but then i'm the sort who would think it was the most humbling of honors to be an NICU nurse, and be there to hold and rock little babies who weren't going to make it.
Nyssa is a pretty name, and I always loved her character on DW. I also love NyNy's real name, Olivia Rosaline (I wanted her to have a 'real' name for resumes and such
hrm..names are hard to pick - they have to sum up so much, and yet not sound pretentious, though it seems false-pretention isn't too annoying..if you're a DW fan it could be something cheesy like "Castrovalva Cassanova", or "Four Pints to Doomsday" *grin*
so what is PSG - pretty swell guy?

Pretty Swell Guy? I wish it was something that creative (or complementary). It is, rather sadly, just my initials, as I say last five on a Friday job.
Castrovalva Casanova, I'd be arrested under the trades description act The trouble I have with picking names is, as you say, they say something about you and I was always worried I'd say the wrong thing. Also I had the rather unfortunate experience when I was younger of someone not wanting to know me after I told them I like Doctor Who, it sort of put me in the Sci Fi weird person category in there mind. So I have always been wary of mentioning it since.
Well, they say each life has it's own trials, and it's good your able to focus on the good things you've had. I suppose thats the thing people don't always realise, that being part of someones life is the important part, not how long (but I haven't had to deal with that type of situation, I probably shouldn't talk about it until I do). I can understand what you mean about the babies (them only getting to see life for such a short time, and you being part of that experience), although I know I couldn't emotionally handle it.
Giving her a real name was probably a good move, as Zowie Bowie and moonunit would probably tell you (I still can't believe there parents named them that )
Now I'm going to have to expose my ignorance, ICQ? I have the horrible feeling it is going to be something I should of heard of, but if I have my brain isn't telling me.

silly pickle..you can't possibly be serious. but just in case you are, it's an instant messaging thing (icq.com) that is more or less what everyone the globe over uses
you seem reluctant to make assertions before 'all the facts are in' or you've experienced something yourself. that's an interesting trait (and one i appreciate, since i get on people's nerves, especially irl, for exhibiting it myself). I just call myself a Humian, or something that rings with a little more dignity than 'flakey.'
*tired smile* i wonder if i'll ever outgrow this nightowl thing

I'm afraid I am serious. I have never actually got round to instant messaging (Which is probably a bit odd for a computing student). I've seen something about instant messaging popping up whe I log on to AOL, but I've never looked at it. But I'll pop over to that site and have a look now.
I suppose I am reluctant to make assertions, it's probably just because I realise I don't know everything, and as good a guess as I can have, I wouldn't like to say its right or a fact. Or maybe I'm just flakey
I think people start to grow out of that at 30, and desperately try and get it back at 32

Whoops, should have given you my screenname too, it's original1234567 . I originally typed it in to be sarcastic after several oversubscribed choices, and I couldn't resist it when I found it was free.

It's been 9pm several times already ... Breakfast of Champions in the Kurt Vonnegut sense?
Currently headbanging first thing in the morning to Radiohead in Portugal. Work is too dull to contemplate.
Um, I had an addition to the list when I was up the top but I've forgotten it ....

that sure would be, yes yes.
you know..that radiohead song that ended up on the romeo and juliet soundtrack is about the sexiest damned song i've heard
i had a retraction or ten, but i keep forgetting to care
if i could find out where my head has gone off to, and lasso it back, i'd join you in your thrashing after sternly lecturing said errant braincase

Simple. Call this function using Nyssa.HelpIveLostMyHead()
Person::HelpIveLostMyHead()
{
return this.head;
}
There you go. If you know where you are, you know where your head is and can return a pointer to it.
This got me through a lot of hard times: the mind has automatic mechanisms for dealing with almost ANYthing and if you can find a symbol to run them with and let them get on with it they work very well ... mostly ....
Thrash about lots, it's good for the circulation or something.

And talk show host (for that is the song to which you refer) is the song which got me into Radiohead. That and Paranoid Android, which also got me into bass playing. I can play talk show host, including the electric piano part, on my bass ... which always confuses people ....
