It's all been sorted out. We both didn't want to offend but wanted to put the point across. All is resolved. I've just promised to be a bit more careful. Still think I was right, but I will be.

Surely you have to whet your whistle first, and I find that wheat whets well, as does whisky.

Whiskey does indeed whet your whistle, though I tend only to use it for my voice . The whistle in question is strangely pitched in F. I can only play in G or D major. Can't do flats.

Not even flat sharing? Shame. All the more reason for whetting -- whetting sharpens, and sharpness is flatness seen from a different angle. The acuter the angle, the sharper the note, and the whetter the whistle. Whee -- whisk me some whisky, baby.
