In the West you find fashions.
In the East you find passion.
The West has fancies.
The East has dreams.
In the East they laugh and weep.
But in the West the laugh is on you.

Westerners judge.
Easterners observe.
Westerners compete.
Easterners lack the edge.
Their skin is too thin.
Sometimes they drink too much.

One way or another an Easterner always seems out of place in the US of America.
The US of America seemed out of place around Sasha.
He was born on Sakhalin peninsula.
There was a quiet about him, a sense of eternity.
He had those dreaming eyes that look beyond the horizon, and deep inside everything.
His melancholy was as gigantic as his laughter.
"I'm lucky, I adapt very fast." He said. "I am glad I had the courage to take that step. I am happy."
When I think of Sasha I think of great strength.
He was the man who made the difference, every time.

Charismatic, spectacular, flamboyant.
Whimsical, guileless, ironic.
Moody, brooding, haunted.
Lunatic, perfectionist, obsessive.
Lonely?
Afraid?
He drank too much.

A flame burning high and bright, briefly.
Left are ashes in the sea.
The Pacific ocean separates
California and Sakhalin.

Sorry I didn't get to know him. Sounds like one happening dude. Sounds like you might have been lucky?

The aim of this exercise in somewhat heterogenous metres is precisely to make people sorry they didn't know him.

That seems like a funny way of putting it. So was this guy for real or not?
