OOooooooooooooooooooooooooooh I'm getting rediculously excited about going. Tickets are on sale on Monday so I'm going to be (ab)using works computers to nab my ticket asap
Bizarrely I've decided that if all goes well this year I'm going to take someone with me next year...my mum. Everytime I talk to her about which bands I saw last time and who is likely to be on this time and all of the *other* parts of glasto that don't get mentioned in the reviews (the food, the market, the out door cinema (nothing like watching Withnail and I at glasto), the cabaret tent etc etc etc) the more she sounds jealous. And seeing as she was the one who paid for me to go last time, plus took me to V96 and to see all sorts of other bands live, I think it's time she got to go to the ultimate festival.
She was telling me last night about all of the young girls at work and how they're gobsmacked everytime she mentions the bands she's seen live (especially when she reminds them that she's technically a pensioner).
As for general excited preparations I've already started making mental lists of things to do:
get tent out - air it and re-water proof it,
buy ground sheet,
buy bumperpack of firelighters and some firelog thingies from the petrol station (these things have got our BBQ's going in the snow so should stand up to a muddy glasto),
buy a gas light/heater for tent,
dig out sleepingbag and wash it,
buy a sleeping mat (someone seems to have nicked mine) and a blow up pillow,
find waterproof backed picnic rug (and decide not to take it),
buy some cheap wellies to keep in the car,
air out the waterproof ponchos,
buy a cheap watch from the market and some disposable camera's,
empty dissertation rock samples (2 1/2 stone(35 pounds) of them) from big rucksack,
wash mould of little "jolly bag" rucksack,
find fieldtrip handbag for valuables,
buy some clothes (I'm not losing another pair of good jeans)
run round in panic
stock up mini first aid kit (contains sun cream, insect repellent, plasters and pain killers + scissors, safety pins and numerous kfc moist towellettes)
Worry about being a sad lonely muppet and not talking to anyone - worry about talking to people and them running away in fear - worry some more
Buy hair products to place hair into indestructable plaits/buns for duration so as not to inflict greasy hair on people after 1 day without washing
Buy extra oxy pads for removal of grease from hair, face and hands (this is the point where I'm starting to worry about putting this stuff in my journal - if it sounds like I'm obsessed with grease blame my classmates in school - bast**ds they've turned me into a cleanliness freak and I used to be so proud of being a bit grubby)
Find out location of towing loop on car
Buy luminous paint for guy ropes on tent (my tent looks a bit like this http://www.outdoormegastore.co.uk/acatalog/chougasgr.jpg and if the guy rope isn't really taut the porch area leaks) - consider painting tent pegs too.
Reconsider not taking cooking equipment and consider living off seeds of change minestrone soup - remember that cooking equipment includes stove, pans, food, washing up liquid etc etc etc and decide to just take soup and try to nick someone elses stove/pan - reconsider and decide to stick with original plan of buying all food.
Panic even more
Feel smug that co-workers are going to be working while I'm partying

Ooh I hadn't heard about 1 giant leap - keep meaning to buy their dvd.
I'm mainly looking forward to seeing REM again and being a lot more relaxed than I was last time (we seemed to spend the whole time rushing around getting nowhere instead of enjoying whatever was happening where we were)

I am not sure...about 1 Giant Leap..they were there last year.
watch their website http://www.1giantleap.tv/
DVD is great...I got it for free...I would be released in Europe last year, but it never came in The Netherlands so I e-mailed the record company that was no style. they asked my adress to send DVD.
