Hi Cal,
Got what you said. Sounds nice at least to make the whole work look fictional, as it is. Christ came in human form to save mankind, but retained some of His Godly attributes. I choose not to comment further on the Da Vinci Code until I have read it myself. I admitted eariler that I am yet to do so. I only argued on a general level.
By the way, how are doing?
Cheers for now.

But you must understand that there as those of us, such as myself, who believe that Jesus was just a man, maybe even a great one, but still just a man. I think that it's wholly likely that he did have a wife and children of his own and that this was covered up by the newly founded Christian church for some political reason of the time. I have no evidence for this, just as you have no evidence for the miracles he is supposed to have performed. I'm not attacking your church or your faith by saying this, these are just my opinions. Let me have them just as I, and atheists like me, let you have yours.
Why can't we all just get along?

Hi,
Well Godben, I respect your views, but I strongly disagree with your insinuation that Jesus Christ could have been a man with wife and children. If it were so, the world would have been told that 2000 years ago. You cannot hide such things for too long, you know that.
The Da Vinci Code should be seen and understood for what it is and for all it represents: fiction, and no more. It is utterly lacking in reality, and from all that has been said so far about it, the book and its author leaves no one in doubt as to what it purports to portray: fiction of the highest order. This is my view.

Oh, I have no doubt that the Da Vinci Code is complete fiction, but the idea that Christ had a wife and children is quite possible. The first two centuries of the Christian church is shrouded in mystery. We have found dozens of lost gospels, including the recently discovered gospel that portrays Judas in a positive light. The fact is that infighting occurred between different factions of early Christianity and the gospels with the most support won out and all the other fringe gospels were destroyed and were proclaimed to be lies and heresy. For example, there is plenty of evidence that suggests that Jesus had siblings, and the missing years of Jesus' life, between the age of 12 and 30, were quite possibly omitted for the purposes of making it seem like Mary was a virgin all her life. As they say in Dogma, Mary could well have been a virgin when Jesus was conceived, but the idea that Joseph stayed with her all those years when he 'wasn't gettin any' takes one huge leap of faith indeed.
The church is ruled by politics. It always has been, and probably always shall be.

In the Holy Lands during the time of Jesus a man of 33 who wasn't married would have drawn attention to himself. If a Jewish (And remember Judaism was the main religion at the time) man wasn't married by 18 he was considered odd, and usually his parents would started looking for a wife for him.
Imagine the scene in a Nazarath market, Mary is shopping and two women spot her
"That's Mary, do you know her son is still not married" says one
"AND he surrounds himself with 12 men" says the other "That poor woman"
This would have been noticed not only by the Priests but by the Romans as well, surely he would have at least tried to keep the attentions of the authorities away from himself.
If this load of old nonsense makes any sense to anyone.

To be honest Reef I don't think it would have attracted the attention of the Romans, since they invented bisexuality, it was not deemed as abnormal by them.

I meant that he would have been noticed by the Romans because he wasn't following proceedure, for the want of a better word
