I can not begin to tell you how the misuse of this little fellow ---> ! really annoys me. (if seems rife in my office at the moment)
For some unknown reason people seem to be putting him any old place they want.
Well Don't! 
For those of you who don't know what his job is there is a brief discription below;
Exclamation marks act as a full stop. It is most often used to show shock, surprise, anger, horror or pleasure. As with full stops you do not put a space before an exclamation mark, but you do need at least one space after one (two spaces for purists).
For example:-
Oh! Ah! Wow! Brilliant! No! etc...
End of English lesson 
and if I catch you placing you wrongly again I shall have to conduct a suitable punishment
