Things that go bump in the night.....

No, not Mu Beta this time....

I've just spent an evening programming the lights at our local theater ready for our production of 'Amadeus'. Dress rehearsals start on Monday, so I was keen to get it done. Due to work, and theater bookings the only time I could access the tech gallery to do the job was tonight.

Now due to all the bell ringing I've done over the years, I'm used to hanging about at all sorts of odd hours in churches and graveyards and I've never felt bothered by either being there on my own (waiting for people to arrive), or the occasional 'odd' presence that I've encountered.

So surely, I shouldn't have succumbed to making myself jump at every 'ping' and 'thud' that echoed round our very small auditorium tonight - after all it was just the lights expanding etc. I certainly shouldn't have jumped half out of my skin after encountering the pile of bin bags outside the side door as I locked up......

A funny thing the human mind.

At the end of the summer, I had been watching a mouse run out and in from under the shed in the garden. Then I woke up half way through the night convinced I had seen it run across the bedroom floor. I didn't sleep the rest of the night because despite knowing there was no mouse, I couldn't stop myself thinking there might be.

Then again my dad once woke up during the night convinced a mouse had run across his head...it had. The cat had brought in a present.

Dark + the human mind = a serious case of the spooks smiley - yikes

It's amazing how easy it is to freak yourself out at night!

I know I have an over active imagination, but really, should an orange bin bag of rubbish on the top of a pile of balanced bags really turn into a pumpkin headed thing just 'cos it's wet and wild and dark outside!!!
