I caught my first one on Sunday.

My first wave that is.
A group of us went down to Cornwall for the weekend (one of the ringers has a house down there). Having done rather a lot of ringing and drinking Friday evening and during Saturday, Sunday was a much more relaxed day. The weather was glorious and so I was persuaded to don a wetsuit (second skin really) and two of us went off body boarding. Great fun, and the sea was reasonably warm.
Plans are afoot for the next trip sometime in the spring. Or should that be now?

Hello, Odo!
I caught my first one on Sunday.

Hmmm, why do I sense a change of career in the offing.....
BTW, any photo-gallery going to follow the 'second-skin' experience?

Oh no, I wouldn't be thinking of running off to the seaside forever. I'll certainly go off to play again at some stage though. I expect a similar type of weekend will go ahead next spring.
THere are photo's out there somewhere, but I don't think I'll be letting anyone round here see the evidence!!!

Body boarding is great fun. I go to a beach on the Atlantic coast in France and they get some cracking waves there. Mind you, I've only ever been in the Summer, I don't fancy the thought of going when it's cold enough to need a wet suit. Brass monkeys* and all.
*I've never been entirely sure what that means, but its such a nice phrase.

I wouldn't know about France, but the water is at it's warmest in September in Cornwall. It's had the whole of the summer to warm up.
I was only in a wetsuit because I didn't have a swimming costume with me and there were spare suits in the house.

I think a brass monkey is a small canon. Hence its balls.

Hmm, not quite as good
Oh, and the brass monkey thing is not determined, the cannon balls on a triangular frame is made up. Snopes again:-
