smiley - musicalnote I have not brought my specs with me...... smiley - musicalnote

Mostly because my poor departed specs broke this morning when I picked them up. The metal fatigue across their bridge was obviously much more advanced than I'd realised. smiley - sadface

I've had them since I did my GCSE's and I was very attached to the frames (I've had new lenses), and or course becuase I've got a 'funny' left eye they have to send my new pairs away to be made up.

to all.

I hope VV got her bird down......

smiley - run off to find out......

smiley - yikes Tragedy!

The breaking of the spectacles is always a difficult time, and I finmd it often leads to inappropriate squniting. Do you not have spares?

And what do you mean by "funny" eye? Does it tell jokes or is it something about the eye itself?

My eyes are both odd, they take it in turns depending which one I'm looking for. Please have eyes as odd as mine, it'd make me feel better smiley - grovel

Egon, would this be related to the girl who once accused you of leering at her?

Egon...you nicked the joke I was going to say! smiley - sadface

Ah well....looks like I'll have to send a joke pack down the the "funny" eye and see if it can come up with some new jokes. The old ones are getting a little boring smiley - winkeye

Sorry...I really couldn't resist. I hang my head in shame.

Hey B! Coming to the Biiiiiiiiiiiiig Birmingham meet? Me and mummy will be there! smiley - evilgrin

*walks off wondering whether B has had a nervous breakdown at the thought of VV and lil in the same room as him*

smiley - rofl and the poor chap won't find this message until late tonight, I hope you don't give him nightmares. smiley - winkeye

Egon - I thought I had a spare pair, but I can't find them anywhere so I'm assuming that they got lost during one of my moves.

smiley - erm I'm managing in a manky pair that I found, although my eyes have obviously changed a fair bit since they were made.

daSilva - I can't really read the photographed message you sent me atm.

Has anyone ever tried contacts? Are they easy to get in?

A work colleague has just started to use them.

Takes a little time to get used to them and you have to keep going back to the opticians until you master how to put them in and take them out...smiley - yuk Can't say I could use them! *shudder*

Mmmm, and I'm rather squeemish so I don't want to have to sit and watch a demonstration.....

On the other hand you can get soft sets that you leave in for a month, they might be useful for fighting in......

smiley - erm I'm undecided, they're offering me a free trial atm though....

I have a phobia about things going into my eyes smiley - laugh so I'm sticking with specs...they've also switched my immune system off in the attempt to get my 'thing' under control so it probably wouldn't be a good idea from an infection point of view smiley - winkeye

and having contacts does increase the risk of infection a little bit.

One thing though...never EVER wash your contacts in water.

I read this horrific story about a woman who had done that. ended up losing her sight. smiley - yuk

There's a lot of seriously damaging (rare, but seriously damaging) infections you can pick up...and not having much of an immune system an' all, I think I'll give 'em a miss smiley - winkeye
