Flat pack shelving!

Great fun!!
I’m building shelves, lots of loverly shelves!!! There are spare parts all over the shop; I’ve got extra shelves strewn in heaps across the floor. I’m running out of good humored comments to make at all the wise cracks I get when anyone walks into the room.
I’ve moved the archive, and a heck of a lot of it there is to! And now I’ve got to shift some extremely solid furniture. The builders + painters arrive first thing Friday morning, and my temp has gone so once again I’m running the library by myself whilst trying ‘engage sockets A with point B and apply gentle pressure.’
I’ve got a stinking cold, feel pretty awful and am nackered.
Hay ho, the sun is shining and it’s nearly Easter and soon I’m off to Cornwall . Meanwhile does anyone want to give me a hand demolishing, moving and then re-building our magazine stand?

Just remember, it's a fight for equality. Women CAN be independent, can put up shelves, and of course...goes without saying...can read instructions...
I put together our computer chair. Dad got jealous and tried to break it...

"read instructions..."
Hahahahahaha
I thought everyone knew the first thing you do with flat packs is throw the instructions out the window?!
Did you know that some enterprising carpenters/decorators have set up a flatpack callout emergency service? I think it is a country wide number you can call and they send the nearest expert they have on file to help you sort out your flatpack furniture! Wish I'd thought of it
p.s. good luck Odo!

Ahh it's at times like this I'm glad I did GCSE woodwork instead of French.
Not when I'm France though.

What a fab idea! I imagine they get a lot of business.
It is worth reading instructions though, purely for the comedy value. There was once an electric shaver instruction manual that contained some real gems. Unfortunately I can't remember them.

somehow I feel sure that, somewhere on the web, there is a site devoted to flat pack furniture instructions.
The question is, who is bored enough to search for it? (I think I know )

Just about lil, just about. Mind you I seem to have got rather a lot of shelves left over ......
Icky - Of course I knew better than to try and follow the instructions. Brute force and ingnorance seemed to be the better option.

I hate all flatpack furniture with a fiery vengeance.
Why? because when my sister moved into a house while at university, she amde me put all her furniture together! And she dragged me round I-bloody-kea!

*makes notes for future reference*
Isn't that what sisters are supposed to do?

what you mean they're supposed to make me do all the work and push the trolley? probably.
Now she's a teacher, and guess who ends up moving her desks around during the summer holidays...

Read the instructions for our flat packed shelf unit, they were obviously written without any thought that people would actually read them. Included phrases along the lines of 'now that you have got frustrated after finding you were using the wrong sized dowells you might like to make yourself a cup of and have a little break. Stay of the though, as this could easily make the problem worse'.

Brilliant. Although could actually help make the problem more bareable.
Yes Egon, that's the one. Brothers are occasionaly supposed to make themselves useful.

You know what you need to do don't you Oddo.....just put a competition up in the library, and the winner wins , I dunno, and see how many strong male students come to help
That'll make B jealous anyhow!

Egon, I seem to remember trying on your glasses and then becoming rather confused. Perhaps you should learn to drive with one eye closed.
VVV
And the winner can have...... all our old stock?
I don't think that will tempt them somehow.
Ohhh, I know, and the helpers get the chance to skive off the line dancing session.... that'll bring them .
