Car Trouble
Fizzymouse- no place like home Started conversation Sep 1, 2005
Following the problems this week with the car keys and the thwump I've eventually got it sorted.
Apparently one of the keys has a damaged chip and the other deprogrammed when the battery went flat
A replacement key for the damaged one will cost £70+vat, so I got the other key reprogrammed costing £23
So I'm mobile again and can get out of this wreck of a house

Just when I thought I had this thing sussed and the key reprogrammed, went out this morning to take my young lady to the hairdressers and the new improved reprogrammed key wouldn't work......
The old faulty chip key however (after a fair bit of pushing and prodding) did.......
So looks like I'm back to square one and will have to buy a new key after all

to hear that - your car doesn't happen to be a Ford, by chance ? My sister could write a whole novel about her car and its keys

No, it a renault, but I prefer to call it something else at the moment
I wouldn't mind so much but I just know that some wee brat could come along, get into it and steal it in about 4 minutes tops and here I am with keys and ownership papers and the thing just sits there....

Well, maybe it's just as well that our car is too old for this sort of key - we still have to unlock it the old-fashioned way
And I don't think anybody could steal it so easily, cause there's a sort of key you have to unlock first ( after you sit in the car) and it's without a battery, so no worries there.

AAAahhhhh for a car that works with a key without a battery *looks wistfully skywards through soft focus lens* now thats what I call a car

That's what I call a key It's a Mitsubishi, and it's nearly 12 years old now, but still doing just fine - thank god
When I had my driving licence, we had a Renault 4, which was great for getting some driving experience, but with the kid, we decided to go for a safer car, so we then bought an Audi. I loved it, and was very sorry when it was too old and getting expensive with the repairs.
But I'm now very happy with the Mitsubishi, although it needs way too much fuel

Mines due an MOT soon too....so just to add insult to injury I've got to buy tyres and make the thing roadworthy again
Roadworthy just not driveable
My petrol consumption will be minimal for the next week or so coz I'm reliably informed by the main dealers that it takes 7-10 days to get a new key, and of course the 7-10 days doesn't start counting until Monday
Not even a decent service around here and the kid goes back to school on Monday

School here starts on Monday, too. We have enough es though, so that's ok. We've started saving petrol, cause it's just too expensive, and the weather is still ok, so it's cycling to work - which is good for my health, too
But I take the car for the shoppings, no decent shop in cycling range, and it would take more than 30 min by for a distance of about 3.5 miles

I want to be like Sharon Osborne when I grow up - get someone else to do the shopping and cleaning - all I'd have to do is jetset around the place and worrying about my

Well, but you'd have to live with Ozzy and Kelly - do you really think it's worth it ?
And who will do the cooking, and will it be edible ?
Car Trouble
Fizzymouse- no place like home Posted Sep 3, 2005
Local eating house could do the cooking.
Ozzy and Kelly will be in rehab.
And best of all I'd have a driver to take me everywhere

I'd risk it I think
In a year a lot could happen - this house should be fixed - the new key for the car should have arrived - the child would be a year older (and hopefully more resonable) and I would have had a years rest.....ahhhh *going into soft focus again*

Then you should start trying to get all these things
Unfortunately, I have no idea how to do this, or else I'd already hhave done it
