h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

The instruction manual only wants to take us to Eurodisney for 5 days at the end of the month.

Ok, I can see you're beginning to wonder what's wrong with me now - such a kind manual and all that, but he wants me to drive from the airport to our hotel.

Drive I ask you - drive - on the wrong side of the road - change gears with my right hand. Well, I never.

Took me all my time 2 months ago driving all the way to Cork - and they drive on the proper side of the road - and have all their signs in English.

How in the name of all things holy can I be expected to drive for an hour on the wrong side, following signs in French (which unless they say things like 'close the door' or 'the pen of my aunt' I'm beat) and get us all safely to our destination.

Help me get out of this one - anybody - please.

Well, there's no getting out of it now, all booked and just have to pack at the weekend.

We're going to surprise the child when she finishes the last paper of her transfer test this Friday.

So look out France - and if you don't need to drive next Monday afternoon - you'd be well advised to stay at home - I'll be driving for an hour - on the wrong side of the road.

Has anybody warned France?

Trouble is I'm going to be in France ... heck I'm going to be in the car ....

You don't want to know that story .... I'll save it for a really slow night.

We're flying anyhoo, at least I get to drive a wrong way round car too.

Oh, and you'd love my '45 stitches on day one of the holiday in Gran Canaria' story, as well as my 'left the crook lock key at home while we're in a carpark 100 miles away' story.

Shall we just say I have a bit of a track record when it comes to eventful holidays............hence my almost unnatural aversion to them.
