But what of the crippled players?
And no, I've never seen it, but the mere description makes me shudder.

Knowing how rough our football is, and seeing those guys in nothing more than basketball shorts and tanks... I don't think I could bear to watch it...

I guess they know what could happen going in... sort of like professional bull riders.... crazy people...

Seriously, they use a different technique to American footballers when tackling so injuries are not as common as you might imagine

I guess bull riders are crazier then, because they know eventually that bull is going to toss them off on their head or stomp on them.

and better yet, the ones that haven't been de-horned can gore them too.

Would you believe that the AFL has done absolutely nothing to advertise this event here in Melbourne where the games are being played. Until Happy posted that link I had no idea it was happening. Some of the games are quite close to my home, so I think I'll go to see some. Thanks Happy.
BTW, I played Aussie Rules for 20 years and the worst injury I ever got was a jarred knee and a displaced patella.
See....::holds up a jar with his knee in it::
Unless you think that a broken collar bone (twice), fractured fibula or broken rib are worse than a jarred knee.

I am impressed - I know I am odd being an Englishman in London who likes Aussie Rules but I do think it offers spectators more than the other "footballs"
You do realize that you are now responsible for posting the scores from the International Competition & for writing an article on it

I broke my left collarbone when tackled and thrown to the ground in the first round of one season, returned to play again eight weeks later and broke the same collarbone (in a different spot) ten minutes into the game when a teammate burst through a pack and collected me while I was trying to pick up the ball. Didn't play again that season.
"Ouch" is to say the least.
