At long last I feel comfortable about announcing my news, both to the world and here.
I'm pregnant!
After many long years of the longing and pain that only barren women feel, it was a real surprise to find out that I was pregnant.
My first inkling that I might have conceived was from a dream, and I woke up with a name on my lips.
The first 3 months were spent in quiet disbelief and rising panic with every abdominal twinge.
My mantra became 'every day's a Blessing'.
The constant nausea and tiredness got me down quite a lot.
I described the feeling of being pregnant to the Man as having a little dictator inside of me who is pulling all my bodily function levers - eat now, pee now, sleep now...
The Man and I decided to go through with our plans of taking a trip around the world - to help take our minds off the worry that I might miscarry again, and to make the most of our time together before the snotling arrives.
5 weeks of travelling around definitely gave us something else to focus on, but in retrospect running around as much as we did was maybe not the best idea in the world - when we got back home a week ago I was wiped out and more sick than I'd been in all the first 3 months put together.
On Friday at the appointment with the midwife, the Man and I heard the heartbeat of our child for the first time.
An amazing feeling to finally connect with the life growing inside of me... I didn't realise how much I'd been holding my breath...
The most astonishing thing - the Bump made an appearance overnight! I woke up on Sunday morning with a definite bump. It's strangely tactile, and rather lovely to stroke.

And I got to be second!
I have some idea of what you are going through, though for different reasons which I won't go into here. Suffice it to say I had two successful outcomes and there is nothing in the world like it
Take care of yourself and your little one, not forgetting the Man I am so glad for you. Keep us posted.

I did a quick search for baby's names with the word "Blessing" for you to be reciting and getting the feel of.
Myiesha, Life's blessing
Devan = Blessing
Grace, Latin, Blessing from God
Kae -Japanese, Blessing
Chinue, God's Blessing
Bracha, A Blessing
Prasad - Indian - (blessing)
Ashish: Hindu - Blessing
Vara, Indian Astrology - Blessing
Beatrice (Latin)- Blessing
Zyana, Hebrew, Blessing from Heaven
Barakah - Lebanese - blessing
Blerung, Anglo-Saxon - Blessing
I really love Myiesha and Zyana
Talk to the bump, honey, ask it to come to you in a dream (all my children did that) and you will see their face, and you will know their name because they will tell you.
If they don't, the choice is yours.
I'll be sending the Angels of protection and motherhood to watch over you my dear friend

The Archangel Gabriel
Associated with the Water Element.
Colour: sea green
This Archangel is 'over Paradise' Gabriel sits at the left
hand of God, and is the angel of incarnation, of conception
and birth and of dreams. Gabriel's emblem is the lily,
symbolizing conception, and it is Gabriel who instructs
souls for the nine months before they enter the world. Call
on Gabriel when you need to hear or send a special message.
I will be praying to this Archangel to watch over you, LSF.
Wear sea green!

Dearest Leopardskynfynn.
I am so absolutely thrilled about your news. And you thinking that it was not to be.
My goondess you gave it a right royal welcome by taking him/her around the world. What a wonderful trip.
But please PLEASE FORGET THE HORRID NAME S*******, yOU must never mention it again. I know it is supposed to be a joke, but it really is not fair on the longed-for infant lovingly conceived!!
Take good care of yourself my dear. so sorry that you have had so much morning sickness. I was fortunate and never had it!!.
With much affection.

Wow, thanks everyone!
It was a dream that announced the possibility that I had conceived. I met a girl in a dream whose name was Lily, and I awoke with her name on my lips. I kept this in the back of my mind and when the little blue line appeared on the test a couple of weeks later it came flooding back to me.
When I read GB's post about the Gabriel, it brought joyous tears to me eyes!
I've been wanting to wear green too, although I'd been associating that with the painting of the world that Spring's been busy with!

I'm sorry that you find the term sno*ling offensive AR1!
It's certainly not meant to be! It's a term that The Man has always used for small children, and it kind of stuck. This child is much loved and a blessing I never thought I would receive, but I don't want to be too 'precious' about the whole thing.
For your sake, I won't refer to the as that here.

Congratulations, LSF!
I'm feeling warm and glowey for you.
You said you woke up with a name on your lips - the baby's name?

So many congratulations!
Thanks everyone!
It's strange, but when I first found out I wanted to run around and tell everyone but decided to keep it quiet in case anything went wrong.
Now that I'm 4 months and I've heard the baby's heartbeat and know that a) there's a baby in there; b) she's alive - I feel strangely protective of my 'secret' and found that I wanted to keep it to myself.
That's about when The Bump appeared - it obviously had other ideas!
Yes ZSF, I woke up with the baby's name on my lips.

Hi my honey, big
It is just that my daughter was called Fatty boomboom by my young brothers when she was small and the name has never gone away.
Now one of the brothers is calling his granddaughter "Goosey Lucy" and I am giving him great big fat rows about inflicting such an allitieration on this dear little Lucy!.
I fear I am getting fearfully intolerant and crochety in my old age!
Anyway, I hope that you will keep all the messages of good wishes in a special album , so that you can read it later on great occasions. I have the album of my 75th birthday. What a joyful time that was.
With much affection
Christiane

Fynn - that is such wonderful news I am still grinning and smiling and my cheeks are now beginning to ache.
I know what you mean about being protective of your secret - I remember the day I found out I was pregnant the first time. Apparently I had a "Mona Lisa enigmatic smile" on my face for about 3 weeks before anyone rumbled me (well, I stopped drinking which was the big give away, but it was the smile that did it)
How is your Man? It can hit them strangely at times.

A friend of mine had a baby in March (I was there to help her through her labour so saw him born, which was lovely. ) and called him Mole for ages due his facial expression and his *digging* all the time with his hands, until she finally decided on a name on the way to the registry office!
He still affectionately gets called Mole though.
A great idea to collect all of these messages and keep them AR1!
Thanks for that!
Thanks Tabs - one of my greatest fears is that I won't be able to adjust to being someone's Mum. I guess every new mum goes through periods of doubting herself.
I'm glad that my news made you smile all day Sho!
The Man is almost as excited as I am about the prospect of bringing another life into the world. Money is an issue (isn't it always?), but otherwise there are no wobblers. Yet.
He kisses my bump every morning.
I'm lucky I guess - a friend of mine's husband spent most of her pregnancy telling her how it wasn't the right time and that he didn't want it.
