*sigh*
I just read a depressing article by Maureen Dowd.
http://www.nytimes.com/2005/10/30/magazine/30feminism.html?incamp=article_popular
What makes it even more depressing is that I've seen/felt/experienced most of it.

I started reading, than decided I had enough somewhere around the middle...
And I don't know how true it is. Seems a bit exaggerated.

I'm just starting to think more and more that the more educated I get, the harder it is going to be to find a husband. Don't get me wrong- I'd be happier with a good career than with a bad marriage, but...
It's like the "H-bomb" referred to in that article. A lot of men are going to shy away from me because I have a few letters after my name, and a lot more are going to shy away when those letters are from one of the top schools in the field. Granted, these men are pigs, but I'd like to think most men /aren't/ pigs.
Trouble is, I'm starting to believe they are.
I've finally got around to liking this person called "me." I don't want her to change, but the more I think about it, "me" isn't going to fit into a world where a man won't marry or date women smarter or more successful than he is.

Scan, if a man doesn't want you for you then he's not worth having, I found that out the hard way, but in the end I did find a man who loves me for me warts n all, there's one out there for you, it may take a few years and a few mishaps on the way but he's out there. Trust me

>>the harder it is going to be to find a husband<<
Then don't look for one. Look for a man who loves you. That's all you need, really. And it IS possible... as my own strange story proves, even in the most unpredictable ways and places.

Or you can practically stumble upon one without even looking...
Oh jeez I'm awful. Always hated kitsch.

Love does hit you like a thunderbolt sometimes

More like a thunderbolt that has slowly built itself into one, until at some point you have no choice but to realise that it is indeed a thunderbolt, and even then it takes you a very long while to do anything about it, and-----um, well, basically, yeah. Or something.

Scan, as a man I feel justified in saying this, any man who doesn't want you, smarter than he is or not, is either really dumb or gay. And it's all a fallicy, men may earn, on average, 33% more than women, but it's women spending the money, you just have to look in any home wares store to see that

Hey, it's not our fault they cost so much!
Maybe I'm thinking about it because I'm in a sort-of "dude-man" relationship. I was dating someone in Ohio before I came here, and it seemed to be going pretty well, but I'm not sure how I feel about it now that I'm here and he's there. I haven't seen him in months. He's not a boyfriend, he's not a boy friend, he's... a dude-man.

Oh, please.
Hey, wait, what am I doing here? I was supposed to go to sleep!

Well it happens in the UK too...here we consider a 2 hour drive a long long time. I used to go out with someone who was a 5 hour train ride away and people thought we were nuts.
Your dude-man, do you speak regularly? Is there some sort of "understanding"? If not....definitely a dude-man Then again...thinking about what sort of person I would be if I was....what's the female equiv? Then I wouldn't think it would be the *best* relationship anyway.
In the UK I rarely see guys who won't go out with bright, educated women now. The ones who still feel like that tend to be the ones who aren't worth going for anyway. So I really do support everything everyone's said so far, somewhere there will be a guy who is perfectly happy with everything that makes you YOU.
Oh and I didn't read the feminist thingy...I'm not very...well...never mind

Hello ladies, I am a man. Don't worry - in the world at large, very few of us would refuse to get involved with a woman just because she's successful, or smarter than us.
Actually, in many cases where we do, it's because we feel we don't deserve someone as great as you.
