smiley - cool You've sussed the smileys, found the FFFF and you kindly replied to my entry on Morris Dancing smiley - wow what a great bloke smiley - biggrin Just thought I'd pop by your personal space again and get better acquainted. You managed to give up smoking 6 weeks ago, well done, have the grouchy feelings stopped yet? I quit smoking 1 1/2 years ago, I have to confess I've slipped up a couple of times since then when I've had a few drinks but the cravings have finally gone completely. Here, have a couple of smiley - donutsmiley - donuts and I'll put the kettle on smiley - smiley

smiley - cheers Deackie!
In reply, I can honestly say that I haven't had any major cravings. I think that this time it's because I wanted to give up. Having hit 40 this year I decided it was time to start looking after myself a bit better. I have also just purchased a rather splendid mountain bike, and try to get out on it for at least one hour every day. doesn't always happen but I'm getting fitter gradually. Unfortunately I'm tending to eat more and put on weight( hence the M.B.). Oh well, can't have it all I suppose. I did a search of h2g2 for anything about coarse fishing, nuffink! So I am considering writing a beginners guide to coarse fishing. I would welcome any advice that you could give me regarding this.
Have a couple of smiley - alesmiley - ale for me, as I don't indulge anymore.smiley - oksmiley - peacesignsmiley - biggrin Otter>

Putting on weight was the worse thing about giving up smoking but thankfully everyone told me I looked healthier not fatter smiley - smiley I turned to peppermints when I quit, I still eat them now for no reason other than at times when I would have had a cigarette. I suppose they smell better than tobacco breath.

An entry on coarse fishing sounds like a good idea. I look forward to reading it. My tip is to use sub-headings to help you organise the entry and keep it simple to understand. When you've written it you can put it in the writers workshop (there is a link from the Peer Review page) and other researchers will give you their comments. I find this really helpful. Have you attempted Guide ML yet? There is a help page here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/A187229 If you want to see how other people have used Guide ML to create pages then you can either type /Test[entry number without A written on the front] eg. http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/Test648001 or to look at the code for someone's personal space type /TestUserPage[researcher number without U at the beginning] eg. http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/TestUserPage171266

Hope this helps smiley - smiley

Thanks Deackie smiley - biggrin ! I haven't sussed out guide ML yet so I may just write it in plain text instead and let the editors play with it ( I trust them). Unfortunately my brain is a fairly basic model so it takes a fair while to input new info so that it sticks. Hopefully I will get used to the ML system but it's all totally new to me, ho hum!
Maybe I'll ask Sue for some help with it, she's good at this sort of thing. anyway once i've written the piece i'll let you know.smiley - ok

Hi Deackie! My fishing entry is now up for peer review. Hopefully it is good enough to be edited for the guide, but as it's my first attempt i'm not holding my breath. I may expand into entries about particular fish and their habitats, along with the usual baits and methods employed to catch them. Hopefully I can then link the whole thing into a comprehensive guide to coarse fishing. Please let me know what you think, as all feedback would be appreciated. smiley - biggrin Otter

Hope you don't mind me butting in here, seemed a good place to drop in (seeing as you were taking my name in vain a couple of posts ago smiley - winkeye)

The intro to coarse fishing entry stands well on it's own, but if you do want to expand it into a collection of linked entries, the only way of doing that is though the University. The way the peer review system works, each scout gets a pick or 2 a month and when they are sent to a sub-ed, all links to non-edited entries are stripped out. Going through the university means that the entries are all kept together in a group, subbed at the same time, usually by the same person, and all the links are left intact. The entries skip peer review, and the project stays on the front page for a whole week! And you get a badge...

http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/University will tell you a bit more about it, or to get a bit of the gist of how it goes have a look at http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/A612299, which is a list of the current projects on the go in the sport & leisure dept.

Have you had the chance to have a look at my project yet? A subject you know is close to my heart http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/A528167.

Oh and BTW, don't worry too much about the 6 weeks - I've been at mine for 6 months now... smiley - headhurtssmiley - yikes

Nah, leave a couple of mistooks i, it make folks feel useful smiley - winkeye After all thats what peer review is there for. Its worth having a look though PR regularly and commenting on those you feel you can - it's only fair!

In trying very hard to look forward to the weekend but you know how I am with fireworks now, it's difficult sometimes to forget the bad associations and concentrate on the fun bit. Oh well 2 weeks today and we've got Ozrics to see. smiley - aliensmilesmiley - wow Getting all exited (oo-er missus).

Well smiley - cheers Deackie! I'm trying to figure out what to do next. Maybe a project about the coarse fish species in the UK. Haven't wrapped my head round that one yet, could take some considerable time. But hey! "Who dares gins" (to quote Edward Hitler) might just go for it and see wh'appen! TTFN smiley - biggrin Otter.
