h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Yep, we're going to make it happen! We're still discussing the basics (NZ or Australia? Melbourne or Adelaide?) but we've decided to set ourselves a target date and hopefully be on a plane to the southern hemisphere by then.

It'll be too warm... and are you absolutely, absolutely sure they sell iron bru over there? and bucky.. of course....

oooh, but I should warn you, if you think I struggle to find time to visit Scotland it may be a little more difficult to get to the other side of the world.

I fell in love with Melbourne when I was there back in 2001 (eek, I feel old now!), but Adelaide is also very tempting! I do have family in NSW so Sydney could also be an option, but we could always come visit ya Vestie Mina, come over when we move and you could adopt a dingo

We're going to pay one of those agencies to do the donkey work for us so I really need to give them a call sometime soon...

Don't rush to come to Sydney as it's flooded at the moment.
We've had the worst rain for yonks and people are jolly fed up with it. Though today is a lovely sunny day with fluffy bunny clouds only.

I would prefer more temperate climes to be honest so Melbourne is our favourite for now. I'd like to visit Sydney though; I've always felt a bit sad that I didn't make it there but Melbourne was just too awesome to leave

My daughter went to Melbourne while she was over and quite liked it (as I do). I think Sydney is brasher and more "in your face" than Melbourne.

Aye, Melbourne has a more laid back European feel. Apparently Perth is a really nice city too, but a lot smaller and quieter than Melbourne. It's rich though!

Has EV been to Australia.

Only I do seem to remember hearing rumours about him being lodged in Sydney.

He hasn't been so wants to take a holiday there first to make sure he's going to like it. He has expressed an interest in Sydney, but I'll just make sure I'm busy that day

Well I don't think we'll be popping over any time soon, more's the pity! But it's good to be prepared - emigration is a massive thing to do and I want to make sure all our bases are covered.
