Blowing my own trumpet
Zarquon's Singing Fish! Posted Mar 14, 2007
I've found my music - I'd put it inside the bigger tutor book. Maybe I *shall* play at the ball! I'm also wondering if I could do one of the duets - the one I played from music a couple of weeks ago with my tutor - maybe he would be willing to play with me? I can only ask. It would be better than doing "Rockabye your Baby' and possibly making a pigs ear out of it. It's definitely easier playing with someone else.

Nope - I'm not playing at the concert. I phoned in today and said so. I've not been able to practice for the last few days and I can't spare the time to go in and rehearse. Shame - it wouls have been fun, but I think I've done the wise thing. One less thing to be stressed about.

What a shame. The audience has missed a treat. It was probably a wise decision with everything else going on in your life.
Hapy Mother's Day,

Oh yes! I like playing duets.
Ness and I used to play duets all the time.

Hmm. Seems to me if you created your own tune, you could play it with less rehearsal... Playing someone else's stuff has always been a pain to me with the guitar.
It reminds me of the days when I was a secretary receptionist and had to spend hours typing someone else's stuff... I much prefer to sit down at the keyboard and play my own music...a
Shnooks has abandoned her trombone and has been messing around with the trumpet I got her for her birthday last year. She has a confusion about mouthpieces, also. The man at the band store has offered to trade her the right size in exchange for her mouthpiece, as the one she has is the kind the local band teachers choose for beginners in the third or fourth grade.

Thank you, Websailor
I do think it was the right decision. In a way I'm a bit sad, but what with everything else going on it would have been too much pressure. There'll aways be another time. I hope you too had a happy Mother's Day.
What instrument did you play duets on, LS?

Hello, Tonsil!
I didn't see your post, as I started mine yesterday. I need to learn the notes more before I can start to compose my own stuff - and also if I play already composed stuff, the audience is more likely to know it and it's always easier to appreciate something you know. People love familiar things.
Oh, so Snooks is playing trumpet? I don't remember you telling me you got her one for her birthday. How is she getting on with it? What does she like to play?
