I think I've been looking for a month or so now, I've only sent off one application, I just look at the jobs, and think 'do I want to do this', 'can I do this', 'will they even consider* me for thi job', hence I've only applied for one thus far wish I had an idea of what I wanted or even should do...

it's all the more arg-ness as my partner is only on a three month contract atm so is also looking for work, and the fact i hate the company i work for is really pushing me.
I've applyed to a couple of things. We spoke to a bloke from teh Met Office at the Royal Society who said they were desperate for people with degrees like mine which is great except the Met Office are moving to Exeter which is a bit of a bummer.

I'd love to find work here, in Cambridge, but the more I look the more I realise that it will probably end up with me having to move Saw a job today, up in York, that I'm tempted to apply for, but, at the same time, thinking perhaps I shouldn't, in case something local comes up soon

yeah my other halves struggling to find work in camby too one jobs he applied for he heard they got 800 applicants for one position.
York's nice, I had to move from the south coast up to York when my dad got a job up there after being made redundant.
Houses are cheaper further north too.
Though we're not doing badly we bought ours down here a couple of years ago and the one of the same layout opposite has just sold for almost 30k more.

Well, I have been told that houses/flats in york now are getting a bit pricey, though, obviously it is all relitive, and owning a house in Cambridge, I've no clue how much this has gone up since I bought it... But, what with interest rates as they are; I could get a mortgage on a place up in York, using my deeds for this house as security, and probably completely pay the mortgage just on the rent I'd get from this house : Of course I do need* to get the job first : got the application pack though today; I'm going to have a look at getting going on it tomorrow Well, good luck with your hunting

at least in camby you know there will always be a renting market with all the students around.

Yeah, there certainly isn't a problem in renting property here; there seems to be a lack if anything...

at least with teaching theres jobs pretty much anywhere have seen loads in the papers recently makes me wish i was a teacher except i know i don't have the patience to put up with people who aren't interested in learning.
I'm just having a moral dilemma about giving up on my chosen profession after only one go at it.

:I never qualified as a teacher; they screwed up my course, and prevented me from finishing So I'm looking more along university rather than school as I can't do that, university support type stuff at the moment though I'd prefer to do a PhD in many ways, there arn't any at the moment in the areas I'm interested in

I wouldn't mind doing some further study but i'd rather be paid for it rather then paying.

Most of the PhDs that I'm looking at carry between about 10,000 and 12,000 pounds a year funding, as I'm biology person a lot are sponsored by the biomedical councils and some by industrys Not that I've much chance finding anything soon that really suits me, plus, I would rather like to get a job locally, to be able to get this house sorted out, and be settled for a few years How boring I'm getting
