Cardinal Noah (is now back!!!)

*a postcard plops onto the doormat*

Yo dudes! its now currently tuesday and i set out on my intrepid journey last friday...or something smiley - winkeye. hmmmm, i just emptied out my trouser pockets and found an empty crips packet (marmite flavour), a cherry nutrigrain bar wrapper, 2 disposable cameras, a pedometer, a weeny walkman radio type jobby and a mobile phone (which has remained off MUWHAHAHAHAHAHAAA. ahem). anyway, on friday i got out of my AS science exam at 5.15pm, ran home, got changed, grabbed rucksack, sister, mum, smiley - run to train station. we got the train to London Waterloo, got the underground (beautiful!) then got a Caladonian Sleeper train to Inverness! It took 12 hours, and I managed to sleep for 2 smiley - winkeye. I got off the train, and it was cold! Heeheehee, I’ve just realised I havnt said where I am! Skye smiley - biggrin. Anyway, that night we camped down by the shore, it was cold. There are lots of furry smiley - sheep, and wee lambs! Thery are so sweet! I slept awfully (being very cold) and it rained all night. I emerged from the tent the next morning looking very forlorn and wishing we’d gone to Ibizasmiley - blue. We’ve spent the last 3 days walking up mountains, along mountain ridges, down mountains. You cant really avoid them here (not that I’d want to!). I’m still cold, but the wonderful hoopiness of Skye makes it worthwhile. It’s so incredibly beautiful I cant describe. It’s one big boggy mountain range smiley - cool. It’s covered with teeny little flowers and the water table is at ground level or above smiley - winkeye. It’s covered with smiley - sheep and there are red deer, hares, oystercatchers and lots and lots of rabbits! There are these funny little seabirds that sound like hyperactive squeaky toys smiley - laugh. Half the nights we’ve camped at official campsites (which merely consist of a smiley - sheepfree patch of grass and a toilet and shower block) and the rest of the nights we’ve just picked a flat (who am I trying to kid?) and non-boggy (ditto) place and set up the tent. A wonderful thing about Scotland is that you can wander (and camp) wherever you like, which makes getting lost a lot more fun smiley - biggrin. I mentioned the temperature earlier , during the day I wear: a pair of green trousers, a thermal vest, long sleeved top, 2 fleeces, coat, gloves, fleecy hat. During the night: same, but replace green trousers with pj trousers and add sleeping bag and blanket. And I’m still cold! Ah well. It doesn’t actually properly get dark at night, it’s just a bit dusky between 11.30pm and 2.30am, it’s brilliant! Right now I’m sitting on a groundsheet, outside the tent on the side of a mountain somewhere. Skylarks are singing, sheep are bleating and it’s very, very beautiful. I’m not coming home smiley - nahnah.

*shortly followed by another*

on Wednesday the sun appeared! It was absolutely gorgeously hot, I was reduced to shorts and a t-shirt, such an amazing difference from the day before! It was the same on Thursday. My mum and sister got sunburned, but I didn’t (they burn pretty easily). It was about 10pm on Thursday night, I was paddling in a sea loch (we were camping on the shore) and I decided to go swimming! Having no swimsuit I went in my underwear, it was a tad chilly! I had to use a rather large amount of will power to keep breathing but it was great fun smiley - biggrin. Then I got out and my fingers went. I don’t know why they do that, but if they get cold they just go white! Or actually sometimes a weird kind of purply-bluey. Once they got really cold (up Pen’y’fan of all places) and they went grey, like dead people’s fingers, smiley - weird eh? Anyway, I’m sitting back on the train now (it’s 4am on Saturday morning). smiley - laugh we passed through Carlisle station at 3.30am, and there were 2 train spotters smiley - laugh! I’ve had such a brilliant time in Skye, I don’t want to go back home to routine and stress. smiley - yikes I forgot to say, in a little shop in Skye I found Monty Python’s Holy Grail Ale smiley - wow!

more random stuff: I have hardly been on h2g2 recently due to holiday, school and such forth , but today I had my last exam (maths smiley - groan) so I now have a summer holiday starting tomorrow of 3 months smiley - wow! All my art work was due in today but I seem to have mislaid a third of my coursework, oops smiley - winkeye. I shant be on till Thursday, but don’t worry, I havnt got abducted by aliens and I havnt abandoned you allsmiley - biggrin

Microman

It looks to me that you are writing offline, possibly to save money.
You may use Microsoft Word. It is not completely compatable with this edior. I get the same problem with inverted commas. Your problem is with the apostrophe. When you have transferred your text to this editors text box re-do the apostrophes using the built in apostrophe which has a different ASCII number.
