i love cycling! it's the best sport and pastime ever invented! it also instantly cheers you up! this morning i went for a ride 17.25 miles in 1hr 5mins. though i had to painfully slowly in one part as i git entangled in the New Forest Marathon! (which starts and finishes in New Milton) did anyone here run it? cos i might of seen you! thought! i love whizzing! that flat bit near Holmsly, with a tail wind....... hit 29mph! great!

I have to admit i too am a cycling fiend, sounds like yo uhave all the gadgets though, all i have is an old stolen bike which was thrown over the back wall of my friends garden. Ahh but i love my bike in spite of it's failings. I tried to paint it red once but ran out of paint half way through, you could say that it has character. I don't think anyone would want to steal it at least. I want to get one of those baskets to stick on the front, then i could get a little whilte poodle tosit in there and wear long dresses and feed my little dog chum or some sort of thing. But somehow i don't think i'll carry that one through

I'm awfully fond of mine too, even though it's falling apart, not many good hills round here for racing down though. And the old people always tell you off if you put one wheel out of place.
I need some gadgets for my bike, i don't even have a bell, or lights yet for that matter, i just keep putting off buying them so i never bother go riding at night, shame really i bet that's one of the best times

I live in London, bit dodgy round here, and unfortunately there aren't too many forests either, cycling along the thames is good though

What on earth does that mean? at a guess i would say it meant, my goodness this aniseed is bitter, but i don't think so. All i know in german is Auf Widersein (pet) I do have a handy phrase that spans many different languages though!
Bof pour la dolche vita de cheesu et jesu
and it mean? and guesses?.... (pretty simple words really, i don't have to much of a knowledge of long foreign words - ah well)

Vic Posted Sep 22, 2001

wow!
that's quite an acheivement!
i remember, last year, one of my friends spent ages finding 'rhubarb' in as many languages as possible! but i think he only made 5!

That would be a little difficult, not the sort of word that usually crops up in conversation or phrase books. I suppose many countries don't even have the plant either so they wouldn't have a word for it would they.
I'm pretty bad at languages myself, i was awful at french in school, the teacher was a bore and no-one ever paid any attention, I tried to learn spanish a while ago but my lessons were on a friday evening so i never had the energy to turn up. the closest i've ever been to being good at a language is Swahilli, which is apparantly one of the easiest languages in the world.

I bought myself some bike lights today, so i'll be fitting and trying them out tomorrow! wee hee! I wanted to get some Dynamo ones but htey would have cost me 50 quid, hmmm, my pocket isn't quite up to that environmentally friendly dedication unfortuantely

Yeah they're pricey little things aren't they, i was quite tempted just to strap my torch on to my bike and use that, i don't think it would have had the desired effect though.
